For my enlightenment what is the difference between a ZFE high and a ZFE low? Is it the extra functions such as TPI or ESA?

a ZFE high has an extra J2 Socket (so the bike's loom is different too - so it has two big connections), bringing

logic for float or fuel strip
logic for ESA
any luck logic for cruise control (an RT uses it)
etc.

there are more than just high and low - one of my GS' has a Single Socket Basic High and thus has full trip computer features and TPMS
I guess a Low low would be really basic

I had ZFE issues a couple of months ago and bought a ZFE high from a 2009 RT expecting it, in my ignorance, to work. It got me by to take my holiday, but it wasn’t compatible. Mine’s a 2012 GSA with Led rear lights and a fuel float. The rear light warning was on, but the light worked, the fuel gauge didn’t work and the suspension only had the rider, pillion and luggage settings. I’ve since found the correct one for handy money. I now have the RT one available if anyone needs one.

they aren't plug and play

motoscan just updated his tool to to provide many more ZFE customisation options - whether or not that gets GS off road suspension bits to show up ....not sure - I expect you can flash different software iterations at it - they are many part numbers out there that fit many bike models

Did you have to get the new one reprogramed and was it new or used? I'm going through the same problem at the moment.

if you find one from the exact same bike it will work - but that might not be so simple. ummm, that said where are the TPMS sensor ID numbers stored

most of the coding for individual bits is available using the Motoscan app - certainly LED lights and the fuel strip / float are options are there

the point about ZFE High or Low is critical and a High off an RT may present extra fun vs a GS spec one

I bought a used from eBay from an identical bike, don’t use the number, I got one from a different model that didn’t have the same features. The correct one worked perfectly, plug and play.
