Not quite the right order I know but bear with me ;)

The Bad
Another case of engine corrosion on my late 2013 1200GS - not really corrosion but a fault with the finish on the engine block which became apparent after about 4 months and 1,000 miles. Not a major issue but something that needs sorting and will not be getting any better

The Good
Had a chat with my dealer and emailed BMW customer services and they immediately offered to fit a complete new engine :)
Said that I did not really want a new engine fitting to my nearly new bike and was offered full new value of my bike against any new BMW - so IMO great customer service :D:D

The Ugly
So now I am the proud owner of what must be the ugliest BMW ever built :augie

At least my Touratech seat still fits :thumb

I think its a thing of beauty :D

I love the black engine :bow im waiting for my blue one hopefully in a few weeks.

Enjoy the green beast :thumb

Jon :beerjug:

Have you tried riding it with the standard seat fitted?

It feels just as low as the GS with the standard seat fitted to me

And there was you adamant you weren't having an adv again!!! What changed your mind??

Still not sure:augie

Think it was just that the latest GSA is just that bit more relaxed than the GS and the latest version does handle very well :D

If you don't mind me asking, how long did it take from letting the dealer know of the problem, through to being offered the new engine, through to being offered a new bike? I am in a similar situation but the dealer is taking quite a while to give me a resolution.

About 2 or 3 weeks to come up with the offer of an engine and then another couple of weeks to agree to a new bike or there abouts.

Never hurts to copy in BMW customer services - unless BMW UK authorise it the dealer will not be able to afford to do anything ;)

All very well, but it demonstrates the poor quality finish BMW are still handing out to punters for large sums of money. Some may think that because their customer service came through that crap quality can be forgiven, but I don't see it that way. What happens when this one (possibly) goes the same way ?

Look at this forum and examples of this particular problem are very rare compared to the number of bikes out there - yes should not happen in the first place but I have no problem at all putting my money back into another GS :beerjug:

It is not as if KTM, Triumph, Ducati, Yamaha etc are producing perfect bikes either

There's no perfect bike out there, but it seems there are more imperfet GS WC machines than most. :blast

Yes, that sure is one very ugly motorbike. What was the designer thinking of? It makes my MZ ETZ250 look like a dream machine.

Yeah, well that just means there's more shit quality being suffered by more fools. ;)

...............if you say so

I will resist the temptation to go into the 1190 thread to slag off KTMs which I know from personal experience are a very long way from being perfect :aidan
