Ride carefully to the next specialist workshop....

The bikes get a software update if needed when serviced

So problem solved.
Dealer picked up bike and returned it same day.
Issue was a software update.
As always my view is that things go wrong with any mechanical device, no matter what brand.
Where the difference comes is how it is dealt with. BMW in my experience have always been ace. That’s what makes them the ‘premium’ brand, and keeps my loyalty.
So big thumbs up for Marshall’s at Grimsby.

That’s still the latest update then. Been around 6 or 7 months , it seems to clear any gremlins that were not quite working on the 018 version. BMW ,however , don’t tell you when the next one is due or is out, and they won’t upload it at service time unless you ask, it takes ages to load apparently .

Good to know I’m up to date then.
Recon it will be a routine request at service time to check the latest software options.

All of these extra electronic gimmickry ie sos/tft/esa is fine and dandy as long as the bike is still under the main dealership warranty umbrella but will be a pita once 3 or 4 years old

Rode all day today , quick 300 over the Welsh back roads , this came on as I left home , no issues , back to bmw , reset and all well . Look at it like a computer , reset it all sorted , the additions of the electronic make the new GS what it is , fookin great.
Use your local dealer and they always will come up trumps , its progress , it works , its may throw up a few messages but that's because its clever . Out weighs the dinosaurs …..:beerjug::comfort:green gri

It’s not that clever if the messages are wrong. It’s nice having the tech let’s face it it’s the digital era, and the new screen is a lovely thing but it needs to be more reliable. They’re clever them bmw folk, the tech is going to keep you going back beyond the warranty, I got a service light flashing , and flashing, and flashing :blast
