Interesting thread. Technology advances and filters to bikes.
People shouting for power that they can’t use. If everyone was riding on the edge and it was obvious more was needed then maybe there’s a need.
But how many are? How many are using all of the current BHP allocation on their bikes and actually needing more?
Or how many egos are requiring it?
Through previous employment I gained mobile covert surveillance and pursuit qualifications and I ride out with much better bikers (still employed in roles that require those skills) than me who don’t use everything they have in the BHP area. I certainly don’t.
So why want more than you can possibly use?
Edited to add I’m on a loan 9RT whilst my oxidation is replaced and the 9RT feels underpowered when compared to my GS but it still has more than can be used on the road.
Can Gilles better that, calling Gilles

Don't bother, he is still struggling to change gears, don't even mention diesel. Poor bloke![]()

Mountain not being kind then...........![]()
It was a bit before you joined here ..... long story and another epic thread.

Which is totally o.k. with me as long as we get a GS with 17 inch wheels straight from the factory in Berlin...

To all you technical geniuses...It you look at a bike from above a BMW boxer has a crankshaft that goes North-South straight with the driveshaft. On a bike like this a driveshaft has less parasitic loss than a chain. You can get that number from manufacturers claimed hp figures and real rear wheel hp numbers on a dyno.
On a shaft driven bike with a crankshaft that goes West-East the power obviously has to be redirected by a 90 degree geardrive that costs more power than chaindrive would because the chaindrive does not need a 90 degree bevel drive on these applications like inline 2,3,4,6 cylinder engines...
I hope that was not too hard to understand...
Back to the 2019 R 1250 GS...due out in the first week of October in cologne...
The other boxers will be released a month later in Milano as my uneducated guess as all get the new engine for 2019 I heared...only the new R 1250 S might get the full 145-160 hp treatment as rumors say...Which is totally o.k. with me as long as we get a GS with 17 inch wheels straight from the factory in Berlin...
In black,with black,frame,engine and wheels...

The correct terminology is longitudinal and lateral. But still no answer to my question. My interest is in this technical shit and for a job I read technical shit and have to understand it for the execution of said job. So please explain it to me or even reference your claims to something somewhere on the web.
And there we have it.![]()

It’s shite like this that make me feel there’s not a relevant section for the bike I choose to ride hence I don’t visit this section very often, fuckwitery and cockwombles abound![]()

Bring back Dahoum....... He used to mod the 1200 section brilliantly I thought, anything not 100% technical got booted out
Times change though, rider demographics change, it's the way it is and not all bad.
Andres

Do we need a 1250 section then?

) don't seem to be able to back up their views with any serious evidence and seem to think if you just keep posting the same inaccurate information (bullshit) it will somehow turn into a truth.
