1250 it is !

We are now down to 30 pages, and the 1250 seems to be long forgotten, hidden in the smoke from the debate regarding BMWs that are breaking down and KTM that are lightning fast.

I have just returned from a stretched weekend ride with some buddys of mine. The bikes where GS LC, KTMs and MSs. We drove on a mix of gravel roads, rough asphalt roads and smooth highways. The weather was a mix of warm and sunny and poring rain.
The bikes where a mix of varying HP and electronics.

Guess what. They all worked. Nothing broke down. And all riders were happy with his choice of bike.

What was the major difference?

The GS riders could tell their chain-gang: "Oh, eh… Do you mind if I pop a cold one while you lubricate"

As Knut pointed out this is about the new R 1250 GS and not some bmw haters showing how clueless they really are. I never claimed to be a riding god but I can tell you after having done this stuff for the last 25 years...schools,trackdays and club races I ride my S1000RR at fast group club racer pace and have my trophies/time slips to prove it.
Anyways it's not only me that says the GS is the best/fastest bike for the Alps as the 1200GS-Rallye won the Alpen Masters 2017 and and this year in 2018 again ! Over the years the R1,Kawasaki H2R,12290 Super Duke,GT,Superadv,1260 MS,Blade,S1000XR,etc tried and all failed against the mighty GS...
B.t.w. this year they had a Speed Triple RS and KTM 790 Duke too and the BMW beat them Both !
Facts not fiction...racing on the streets is stupid (but fun) and still maybe only 70% of track pace max but if someone is not only fast on the keyboard I race you on the S1000RR on the track any time to stop the B.S. !
Believe whatever you want but don't come on a BMW enthusiast board and knock the GS and try to ridicule BMW riders with stereotypical B.S or your cluelessness !
I just hope BMW does the upgrade right and does not bore us with 9 hp more...:thumb
Enough said !
But it's all good...:beerjug:
The last 20 years I go with a group of guys to mexico to be free for a while have fun & ride fast.I was always on a BMW an got ridiculed on my R,RS,S or GS.First they all had japanese sportbikes.
Then they bought Duc MS and KTM's.Now they all ride the GS.Wonder why...:D
Makes it harder for me to beat them...;)

The new GS is rubbish with all of that work, nearly 100cc extra and still less of a % increase than Hilltop gets from the current bike. BMW are employing the wrong engineers...

Would you be happier if they lied and told you a bigger BHP number, or do you acctually find that you don’t have enough ummmphh in your GS and often find your self sat there bored with the throttle wide open?

...the GS is one bike that moved the discussions away from BHP and to all round capability in many different environments.

Not sure if you missed the point of my post - maybe needed a ;)

I’ll go along with knutk I just like riding surely that’s the sense of freedom we get from the next bend in the road whether it’s uk or whatever. Enjoy whatever bike, life’s to short to get hung up on the why’s or werefore’s

You did for a while.........

Shhh, It's a forbidden love. It doesn't matter what you do to him, he'll never admit it. He'd rather pull his dentures out through his colon than admit that he actually likes GS's.

He calls mine all sorts of unsavoury and unflattering names but he's like the protagonists of one of those Bronte Sisters' novels; pride will not allow him to satisfy an unrequitted love; destined to forever pretend he loves another, trying many and all along the way whilst all the time harbouring feelings for the only true love of his life, the mighty R1200GS.

Be gentle with him, for he knows not what he does. ;) Forever destined to be tortured by love :love

It’s all bollox . I’m off out for a ride on my underpowered GS 🤪

My bog standard as it left the factory GS offers better riding credentials then I will ever take advantage of, at best I’m very average....at worst I should stick to cars.......

Whilst I appreciate we have some great riders here, they would as proven be great on an 1150.....

Maybe the USA will get this one.........

As with the current R1200GS, next year’s R1250GS will also be offered as a restricted 79kW (105.9hp/107.4PS) version in some countries to suit local regulations.

That's about the same as the current one puts out, so no major change then :thumb
