If you agree with those points, there’s no way you’ve owned one, let alone even ridden one. ;)

Christ , I have , I didn't like it , get it ………… what part of that cant you understand , are you special needs or something , oh and no , I like a beer …. but not the 1290 x

Giles lay off the drugs...talking about KTM and reliability and quality in the same sentence...:comfort
K eine T ausend M eilen is what KTM really stands for.
And how "Ready to race" KTM really is,I'm talking about on road they put on display every MotoGP race..;) BMW shows as the TT that they are only for senile old pipe and slippers folks...as you don't have to be Michael Dunlop to win on one...;)
On a KTM you can only loose..."Ready to Race"...if you win against a GS it was the bike,if you loose it could have been only you riding it because your bike is "Ready to Race"...:D
The most stupid slogan and then not offering a real superbike that is "Ready to Race"...:P
Oh well...life goes on...:thumb
I'm just surprised how many BMW-haters congregate here and try to take a piss here...but at least they are funny like little boys bragging how smart they are and that they know it all...but at least they are entertaining...:D
Don't get me wrong I have nothing against KTM but please don't tell me they are better, faster and more reliable because they got a little bit more top-end than a GS.I give you this. They are faster on the Autobahn but any 1290 is still dog slow compared to a S1000RR.And on back roads it does not matter if you have 125 or 146 hp like a 1290 SA has on the same dyno. Here what only counts is the T-L that does not dive and soaks up all the irregularities, flat torque curve, less gyro of the boxer crankshaft which sums up to more stability and better handling of the GS !
Factor in the aluminum boxes and shaftdrive and you can see why the KTM or Ducati loose in sales big time.
The GS is a way superior package. The best for the road, period. With more power and more TORQUE for 2019,even better...:thumby:
Of course with less weight it will be even better...it will come.
My bet is on MJ 2023 for their 100th anniversary...:beerjug:

When ever I go for a refresher on the RT, (sometimes it’s un marked Gixxer ... sometimes marked RT) we (obviously) spank it to within an inch of its life.
And I tell yer what .... it’s bloody amazing what those RT’s will do! It all runs out of puff at 130, but for a tourer ... very very capable bike! I’ll get one when I’m 70

And ... (use the opportunity to say now...) .. one Bike V another on the road is 80% down to the rider. (unless you’re actually going to do rolling third gear drag races and shenanigans like that).
Posting ‘I blew my mate away on my ‘*’ bike ... he couldn’t keep up .. ‘ etc etc... means fuck all! I have seen work colleagues (So class one riders ...!) riding Blades and Gixxers left behind and unable to keep up with well ridden RT’s!!

1290 v GS ???? Nah ... one rider V another ...

Those RTs do run out of puff at 130 but in my case on a German autobahn I'd not changed up into 6th! Bit alarming when the rev limiter comes in and it dies at that speed. Fully laden as well. Anyway I've had it 12 years from new and it does most things so well it would be stupid to sell it for what I could get.
I know not really relevant to this thread but I'm sure I couldn't contribute anything else.

O.K. I'm a little disappointed about the hp and was expecting 145hp/140nm Torque. We got 136hp and 140nm TORQUE.We can thank the arseholes in Brussels and their ridiculous EU-5 for it...:(........also the 5 kilos more weight due to a heavier/quieter exhaust.)

Now, I have no love for the Euro-crats but you do know that every manufacturer regardless of their national flag has to comply with the EU requirements.
Yes those rules will have had an effect on any new bikes being built but if manufacturers really wanted to they have the ability to design and produce more powerful and lighter bikes if that's what their aims are.
Others do it, BMW chose not to, and why would they when they have people who will still pay the premium for the GS.
Those that want to, buy them. Those that don't look elsewhere. Simples

What I don't get is why you refuse to see things for what they are. :nenau
Some of the things that you spout about the GS make you look like the schoolboy who's infatuated with the first girl to give him sex because you just can't imagine anything better being possible, and if anyone dares to suggest Mary's not the stunner that you think she is you cant accept it in your blind infatuation.
Ignorance really is bliss for some it seems :drool

Now, remember- it's a bike!!...some good features, some not so good :rob

Can someone remind me what this thread is about :augie

Don’t really want to wade in on the argument, very much see myself as an observer here, but ..... couldn’t agree more. The quality of finish on my 1290 way .. way ... way surpasses any GS I’ve had (two). Paint is thick and heavily lacquered, nuts and fasteners still as good as new, stability?? Absolutely rock solid. Reliability? Hasn’t missed a beat ... not one.

Don’t forget we’re talking to a man who thinks the GS is the fastest bike on a road and that nothing else will touch it (which is why we regularly see them at the TT ... )

Okay Piles , you de man ..but you cannot deny at 100 mph the Ktm wobbles the clocks like Nuttless tossing off Andrex and Arsewipe

I've cancelled my TV licence because for £12 this is so more entertaining than anything on the box.
