2006 GS help needed with the rear brake switch wiring please.

No it stays on all the time. Checked all the lamps and they seem to be working, indicators etc. Just the brake light is permanently stuck on.
Appreciate you taking the time to advise.definately a head scratcher!
There has to be a second switch What is the last 7 digits of your Frame number? Sorry but you can't message until you become a subscriber But I only need the last 7 from the "Z?12345"

Also Unplug the ABS module and see what happens ?

Yes sure, can you give me an idea how to load them on please?
You will need to become a subscriber I think

thanks again! Wish I could help you with the motor issue your having, is yours a similar vintage to mine? Could do with a picture on where the plug is exactly, been looking all over it for one today.

That's the problem mines in bits

But it's a green wire with black trace and a yellow wire looks like no tracer colour on it

The brake switch cable is 910 mm long so that is as far as it can go

I think the rear Abs sensor is in the tool tray maybe they tucked the brake connector in there too ?

@Santa-2512 or someone else might be able to confirm Loom side connection colours ?

Rear brake light switch loom colours are yellow/black and yellow/green

Thanks very much. Going to have another go at it now. The connector has got to be somewhere!

Hi all..thanks for the help I've received. Unfortunately I do not have a connector plug to the rear brake around the shock too mount or anywhere else that I can see, just have one to the front brake switch with a brown and red/green wire.
I don't even know how this bike has managed to pass an MOT with the rear switch missing.
My brake pedal doesn't have a lever to operate one either from the pictures I've found.
I'm totally stumped now, have worked on bikes all my life and the connector just isn't there and none of the wiring looks like it's been disturbed to chop it back for example and push into the loom.
Do you have any ideas of any specialist I can call out or something please? I'm in Warrington Cheshire and wondering how I'm ever meant to get 2 working brake lights.
Thanks again

I think we may have gone bit wrong here...
First, the connector with brown and red/green wires is the accessory power connector, if fitted the front brake light switch wires are white/grey and white/violet.
Second looking closely at RealOEM for your bike it is slightly misleading as where the brake light switches are mentioned it also states "X630A=No" - meaning (I think) that when the bike is equipped with the later IABS2 system there are no brake light switches, this certainly applies to the later bikes. The ABS unit signals to the ZFE to trigger the brake light when there is pressure in either the front or rear brake circuit.
The fact that you have an brake fault light showing indicates a problem with the ABS unit itself - needs a diagnostic unit like a GS911 or Motorscan to see if any fault codes are being produced by the ABS.
Can you confirm that the brakes work OK (ie not stuck on) and is the brake fail indicator steady or flashing.

Thanks fifth horseman, much appreciated. The brakes work fine and the fail indicator is stuck on steady not flashing.

I should have read the first post !!!!!!

Grrrrh!!! You NEED to get the fault codes read !

Usually a solid Red means its lost power to the motor Brushes stuck

But the illuminated tail lamp and brake switch threw me off! a GS911 or a Motoscan will give you clues as to what is going on

DrFarkoff, no problem you've been very helpful with it! Looking at the gs911 it's £300, unsure on the motoscan, Does anyone in the north west do code reading at all would you know pls?

For Motoscan, the software is here https://www.motoscan.de/#app-versions it needs a recent(ish) Android phone to run and a dongle such as https://www.bmdiag.co.uk/unicarscan-ucsi-2100-bluetooth-obd2-adapter (clone adaptors do not correctly support the BMW protocols) and a ODB2 to BMW adaptor cable https://www.bmdiag.co.uk/bmw-motorcycle-10-pin-to-obd2-adapter-cable. So about £130 for the full version if you already have an Android phone.
The GS911 WiFi version is way more convenient to use as it will work on the web browser of any WiFi enabled device.

Give the abs modulator motor a whack with a rubber hammer .. it’ll free off the motor magnets which are stuck in their holders ..
the motor is the black unit about the size of an aerosole cap attached to the modulator body,
It might only be temporary fix, or it could last for a year, there’s no telling .
