2008 GS Seat Suggestions

Hi Andy, Out of the Corbin and Wunderlich, which was the best for long range touring. Im setting off to Switzerland soon so would be interested to know. Thanks. Paul
My only experience is with the Wunderlich. I have the front seat on my '08 R1200GS.

I just did two days from Scottish border to the middle of France, ~700 miles. The previous seat was pretty awful, the Wunderlich is better, but still pretty hard. I found I had some sore pressure points after the first day of riding, and the second day was pretty uncomfortable.

On the way home, I added a gel seat pad on top, which sorted things out - no discomfort at all riding back.

I would say that the Wunderlich is much better than stock, but could be improved.

I am tall, and really found setting it on high front, low rear really helped. Moves your weight back to the wider part of the seat.

I think the Corbin probably as the base is much stronger being fibre glass but the extra width at the front does make it slightly taller.
The Wunderlich is very good as well. So if seat height is an issue I don’t think you would be disappointed

If you§ are a bit short in the leg you’ll find a Corbin spreads your legs a bit so do try one before faking out.
I put a s/h sergeant brought on here fr my 1200 and found it brilliant, std pillion on here was ok.

+1 for Airhawk. I tentatively admit to wearing a pair of padded cycle shorts as well for long runs as I have a bony arse and the standard GSA seat it excruciating after 1hr. You don't need much air in the 'hawk. Just a wee poof, er, puff...

stock seat 20 mins
ebay early GSA seat 90 mins
GSA seat on my 2011 model looks the same but actually has distinctly different profile and feels much nicer - but have never ridden it more than 40 mins, so don't know how it behaves on long runs
airhawk on anything with the right level of air 12hrs

but getting the air quantity right is not easy - if you think its right never add any - you'll mess up your life
