2014 gs, final drive noises

The final drive is making some really loud noises,
Like a dry bearing and clattering on and off load,
I bought it used 2 weeks ago and mentioned the noise the following day,
It is considered a characteristic, they are noisy bikes, and anakee tyres,
So after a long weekend trip I kicked it into a high gear on the main stand ,
The noise was very loud and made me realise I shouldn't have been riding it for the last 800 miles,
And I should gave done this check on the first day instead of listening to the they all do that suggestions,
It's now done 6000 miles , is this common,,,

No most dont last this long see your dealer ASAP

I don't get any noticeable noise from the final drive. Just loads of tire noise from the front Anakee. Refer to dealer

My gearbox - does make noises when shifting..but I haven't heard my final drive yet! Definately something wrong m8.

Usual advice on this forum is not to run the bike up through the gears whilst on the main stand - if you do, the FD is at all the wrong angles and it makes a hell of a noise.....

I do appreciate the running on main stand,
This is my fourth gs the last three were adventures,
The noises are on a steady throttle the same as when driving which is like having a jet aircraft overhead, with really bad rattling the same as when driving,
I dropped the oil and it was dark and lots of metal fragments,,,,
I put it back in to allow the dealer a fair chance of diagnosing it,,

Does not sound good this might be the first report of this problem so it could just be a one off and you have been unlucky

I really like the bike, had a year on a ducati multistrada which was faultless,
It's just the gs it's a great ride, and so versatile,
I was hoping it wasn't going to be another run of warranty claims like the last GSA ,
The only downside is the dealer is 90 miles away as my local one is a dead loss for sales and service,,

Mine sounded just the same on the stand also when off the stand and riding, just a little more mutated it did drive me fuckin mental because I was listening for it all the time, sounds the worst coasting off the throttle at about 3-4k rpm took it to dealer. they all do that sir! It never sounded right to me

Bmw assist are collecting the bike tomorrow as the bmw dealer are busy,
They have been good up to this point,
I appreciate there is a process for warranty which will hopefully involve the need to find where the metal fragments have come from in the final drive,

What the dealers don't like you to no, by getting BMW assist involved and opting for the FREE loan vehicle the (busy) dealer has a 48hr window to turn it around if they don't they either have to pay to extend the loaner or provide you with a bike, you'll get priority so take the free loan vehicle offer .

Opinions from workshop imply it's not an issue,
It will be for the new owner to persue as I did gét a good deal on a 2015 gs'

I went for sapphire black,, they do new colours white,,, is now a special edition arctic bike which would have been my first choice,
But for top of the range money it would have been a GSA same colour as yours,
They claim it will be built and delivered about the end of September,,
