68 MPG?

F800GS - Just had my worst FC due to being late for work a few times this week... 54mpg, normally 62 - 68mpg and that's 'true' mpg.

I find the computer is a bit optimistic, normally by around 3mpg. So always carry out tank-to-tank fill plus mileage.

Anybody know why the distance to empty reading after filling up is showing 126 miles when it does a whole lot more than that?

Anyone checked actual distances against the odometer reading on these bikes?

Good question Packer, not by me; just the true tank to tank fill up, but it's worth a thought as the computer always over reads by 3mpg.

Perhaps someone on a run with a sat nav could answer this one for us?

Yes, my trip computer is almost the same as the Garmin distance over 1750 miles. The speedo is almost spot on at 30mph, a bit out at 50 and reads 75with the garmin showing 68 mph.

Does super unleaded do anything to the MPH?

D'ya mean "MPH"? Or d'ya mean "MPG"? I have read that on certain high-performance cars, using super unleaded may give a slight power increase if the engine management can detect the higher octane fuel. I think in most cases (cars and bikes) the sensor is there to suppress the timing curve to protect the engine if low octane fuel is detected. But I might be talking bollox.

What I can certain of is that the use of super-unleaded will empty your wallet faster than regular unleaded :D

I cant tell any difference with Super UL fuel either performance or FC. Do you think those awfully nice petrolium companies are having us over?
