ABS working?

Today I had to brake relatively hard. I think ABS came on and I scarily coasted towards an accident for a second before braking started again.
This happened several times before when I had TKC 80s fitted so and now with Heidenau K60s. Is this a symptom of having a knobbly tyre or should I be having it looked at.

That's what it does. It's not the fastest cycling system in the world.

Might want to have a couple of dry runs with it somewhere to get the hang of the sensation before you have to deploy the heavy anchor again in earnest - sets the mind at ease.

Only if you are riding side saddle with an open face helmet on.
