The last BMW that had the stupid linked to the front integral foot brake was the R1150RT…The R1150RT-P for police only the right lever was linked to front and rear brakes while the foot was only braking the rear…For obvious reasons ! Police do their obstacle courses between cones turning as tight as the steering lock allows holding / balancing the bike between rear brake and friction point on the clutch where applying the front brake would immediately make the bike fall over to the inside…Dont do that on your 1300GS because it wont be new and shiny anymore
Another reason BMW went to wet clutches because the dry clutches got hot and wore performing these tight turning techniques…Stupid that BMW went back to these old mistakes as also less sound , smaller tank , less grunt below 6000 rpm due to longer gearing and shorter stroke and no higher rpm ceiling to take advantage of the shorter stroke / slower piston speed that would allow to make peak power at 9000 instead of 7750 rpm…They have they work cut out until the new GS is ready being a premium product worth the money they are asking for it…And dont do these tight turns on the steering stop boys and girls if you dont want to embarrass yourself until you put it into Enduro Pro to disengage the rear brake from the front
