If I was buying another BMW boxer given the choice only between an 1150 and a LC I'd take the 1150, If the choice extended to a TC I may opt for that.

Never owned anything BMW bar my current 2004 1150gsa
So i dont have the experience to compare but.....being 100% honest , i do know one thing.
Nothing has enticed me off it yet.
It is absolutely dialled in for me and is an absolute joy to ride so I cannot justify a newer model of any brand and associated cost.

You should definitely try an 1150. I'm sure they'll be someone on here who's local who could help you out. As a long term 1150 owner (14 years and 3 bikes) I think they're great. Just about good enough for real ride riding today and able to keep pace with the latest LC bikes on all but the fastest of roads - maybe not so against the latest KTM's and BMW S bikes though

I have both at the moment, a 2001 GS and 65 plate GSA TE, I took the old 1150 out for a pre sale blast today and dare I say it, it was more fun.....more "connected", a lot more agricultural though, lighter by a mile too, but maybe its a case of my arse being on it for so long and being familiar with the old girl.....but i do get it. Would I keep it. Probably not, the new bike does everything better but does seem to have lost something. Maybe my new one just needs a loud can or something
Strange thing is, I tried a louder pipe on my GS (Arrow) and took it off, I didn't like it

I also loved my 1150 GSA SE and put over 60k miles on it during the 9 odd years that i owned it. I always swore i'd never get rid of it, it was the first GS i'd owned and it took me and the missus all over Europe...

However, realisation soon set in that the bike was feeling "tired" maybe due to the new RnineT i'd recently bought but it was starting to feel like a nine year old bike with 65k miles on it. Still looked like new and ran well but lacked the oomph of the NineT.. I finally succumbed and took out a new GSA WC with the missus on the back and within 5 minutes I knew i was in trouble. The performance was incomparable in every aspect, the bike felt more comfortable, handled better with the different suspension modes, and no arse ache at all. Loved it and when I handed it back i knew i'd have one.. A short time later the deal was done and within a week or so the SE was sold. Do I regret it? Initially I was in two minds, but once I threw a leg over the WC any sliver of regret was gone...
If you buy a 1150 GS/GSA you'll enjoy it, but my bet is that you'll still spend most of your time on the WC...
