Another European odyssey....!

So another adventure begins, as usual in Perth..

Scotrail wifi not up to photys....you'll have to wait....

10 minutes late!

Not an open I hope!
Looking forward to this. We’re doing a similar rail tour later in the year. We’re looking to go to Paris for a few days then Nice, Cannes area followed by Lyon, Chamonix to visit son’s family then back home via antherfew days in Paris . Well that’s the current itinerary. It is subject to change.
Are you using a Euro rail type ticket?

Nice one Gerard.
You and the Mrs have a good one and look forward to the report.

No...you'll see why as the trip progresses....

French and Italian rail is good....Germany is disastrous...even the Germans say so!

Fancy that trip you are planning...as before 'the man in Seat 61' website is a fount of useful knowledge and tips...

Thanks Gerard have a great trip.

And onto hotel WiFi, which is significantly better than Scotrails paltry efforts...
Through Stirling, Falkirk Haymarket and into Waverley only a couple of minutes late.

Wee nap and out into night time Edinburgh to find grub.
We dondered across St Andrew's Square and down George Street, thus avoiding the horror that Princes Street has become.
Usual squads of oriental tourists and along to a very nice Italian...Continis...for a beer...

...and a delicious bowl of ravioli..

The beer and grub did a decent job of curing the ravages of the night before...

George Street is a far nicer road than Princes Street, and now in fact has far better shops to gaze at as we ended our way back to the hotel ready for an early night....some decent views too..

More anon....

On to the smart Azuma 1st class for the run south...awaiting the first free coffee.
I had originally booked at 0800 departure, but then go cold feet at the connection times after our Vienna debacle...so got an earlier one...0630...

Nice morning here anyway!
