Choccy Muffins Rule!!! :D

yeah ... and not the mule ...

Had first spin yesterday on demo bike. The engine sounded really noisy and rattly. Was hoping to really love it but jumped off not raving about it. I don't know if its me not used too the shaft drive but when on a closed throttle over rough tar there was a real vibration/noise from the rear. It actually made me stop too check nothing was slack
Didn't idle very nice either. Sort of missing and u could see the rev counter jumping up and down

I was coming from my current bike a 800 gs I was hoping I would totally love the new 12. But not too be. Maybe if had more time on it might like it more. Possibly. Going on first impressions I wouldn't be rushing to be buying one. Another 800 me thinks

We aim to please :)

I was just agreeing with the thread title

I had the bike for a 5 hour slot, but took it back after 3 hours because I got bored with it

All the modes and electrickery spoiled the enjoyment of 'just riding a motorcycle' for the sake of riding a motorcycle

BMW have gone too mainstream to be quirky & individual - it's not why I started buying BMW bikes in the 1990's

The new GS is too fast, too Japanese & too bland to be a characterful GS

Chuck in the noisy & clanky motor, coupled to the imprecise gearbox which is clunky & clacky - I'm out

totally agree with above,i also returned bike early as i wasnt enjoying the experience, far to jap for me.each to his own thou.

glad you like it so much enjoy, btw thanks for not posting you dont like it cause you cant afford it bollox that was getting

thinking about it, what disappointed me about the bike was that i went to the dealers really wanting to come away needing one. the feeling that i just had to have one, and how the hell was i going to hang on until the GSA version came out.

didn't happen. i liked it and i think it's a good bike, but it's not perfect, which is what it needed to be to prise me away from my twin cam.

i'm still hoping to generate the need to have one one day, but it would help if bmw met me half way and fixed a few niggles :)

True Cookie

After the hype I was expecting to be blown away & doing a deal there & then

Sadly I wasn't

I had half a day on one. Loved the speed and handling. Hated the rattly engine. Sounded just like my old 1150.

...........

I think that's gone and put neatly into two paras what I waffled on about for ages in the OP.

I really wanted to tell the salesman that I liked it when I got back as he was bouncing around like an exited puppy in his anticipation of yet another sale and he looked genuinely surprised when I told him what I'd thought of it (if I'm honest, I quite enjoyed that bit :D).

But the ethos of a GS isn't about speed & 125bhp??

you're right, it isn't, but it was fun :D

however, i've been thinking....

the LC only has 10hp more than my twin cam GSA and it's heavier than the old GS, so why does it feel so fast?

the conspiracy theorist in me is wondering if they've chucked all the power right up the front at small throttle openings so it seem quicker than it is? the old bike has a notoriously slow throttle after all :nenau

also, when riding a demo bike i have usually found them faster than my own, possibly because i have absolutely no compunction about ragging the shit out of them, which is a very rare occurrence on my own bikes :augie
