Bar risers, anybody want some?

Today I visited the engineering firm to get the risers test fitted. We have 2 designs so I'll offer the members a choice and we'll make a batch of the most popular one unless specifically requested. We'll develop it a bit further to get anti corrosion treatment and maybe get the finishing closer to what it looks like on the OE handle bar clamps if it is feasible.

Had a bit of a shock the other day, the cost for 1x 130mm M10 stainless cap bolt is £2 . It is my intention to offer this with the M8 stainless cap bolts to do away with the BMW bolts. I noticed that the throttle cable has to be rerouted, a 5min job worth doing instead of stretching the cable.

Here's the risers:

It is not the finished product but please feel free to voice your opinion. I'm away for the weekend so will pick up the thread next week unless I get some internet access in the mean time.

Ok daft question, whats the difference between an 07 GSA and 08 GSA in terms of bar risers?

As if these would fit an 07 GSA I'd be interested.

Dave78 I don't know. There is a guy at the club with a 06 GS or I'll have to ask the guys at Wollaston. Anybody on here to correct me? I'll add you to the list Dave78.

:) No 1 design pse:thumb

:rob hey tannerman I am going to be in Europe for a couple of weeks on my bike escaping the UK weather....... Just in case I don't reply to the thread:rolleyes:

As long as they fit the GSA 2010 30 yr special without buying new longer cables then I'll be happy cheers :bounce1

I will only be in if it has the above. design 1 is OK with me if it has anti corrosion treatment and finish is matched to the OE bars .
Is there a need to change cables ?? or re route ??

:blast

Yes please. Count me in. Although i think no2 would be better, a. Cause i think they look better, b. if anyone wanted to lower them they could shove em into a lathe( or a friends) and hey presto.
Let me know please.
Many thanks
Jack

I'm back from a WW1 battlefield tour with Oakley motorcycle club and we made use of Martin Pegler as our tour guide. Had a wonderful time at Orchard farm. Martin and Katie Pegler are wonderful hosts and highly recomended.

jarco, I've got the set of 40mm No2 design so if you want it lowered let me know but the current set up is a good height comfort wise and if standing on the pegs.

I've found when fitting the bar risers that 40mm is the maximum that you can raise the bars without changing cables. I rerouted the throttle cable from over the bar to under the bar and behind the riser. I'm not satisfied as there is a bit of rubbing but will have a look at it tomorrow after a weekends riding to see if it's acceptable or needs to be changed for the better. I'll posts some pictures later. There will be a bit of experimentation to see if I can get a finish close the OE look if possible.

There is 2 ways of routing the throttle cable. Over the hand guard or under the hand guard.

I'll see if there is something that can be done to separate the cable from rubbing on the metal bits. Maybe a p-clamp (or similar) or a sleeve but at the moment I couldn't see any evidence of rubbing on the cable sleeve after the weekend away.

The engineering company will make run of sets which will then be treated for corrosion and a finish applied to match it with the BMW handlebars. I'm looking at a lead time of about 3 weeks to get it mailed out to you guys.

Hi I am not interested in changing cables etc, so I would be interested in them if still available , or if a smaller set could be made ??
