Base map updates

Iv'e had my 2610 for a year now and am wondering how I can update the maps that I am using. I see that mapsource v7 is out, is this the only way to get the updates? As a registered user can I get a free update or do I have to purchase the whole package to get the new maps? I assume that the programme updates do not include any map updates.

I believe that you have to have purchased your original software within a month of the release of V7 to get a free upgrade.

Me? I'd go onto the Garmin uk site, read up on how to apply and email to order the upgrade anyway. I suspect they'll send it.

First off, change the subject; you cannot update the basemap.

You can upgrade the detailed City Navigator maps.
You need an upgrade CD from the UK Garmin distributor and then you go onto Garmins website to get an unlock code. From Garmins website (http://www.garmin.com/unlock/update.jsp) you can see that this will be US$150. During the unlock process they will ask for your credit cards details.
