BEE KEEPERS

speak to your local association, commercial breeders charge far too much for bee's. my association give people swarms for free on a first come first served basis. Also keepers who have an excess of nuc's will be starting to sell them off soon and they generally come at a more reasonable price. To date I have never paid more than 50 quid for a nuc. I also got one swarm free of charge and that has since been turned into three nuc's.

when you get some bees make some olde worldi meade it's proper yuk but really messes you up...!

plus you need a centrifuge to get the honey out...the guy next to us has bees I might wander down and have a look next time he's about.

Thanks for all the usefull advice. if theres any more out there lets have it

If you contact your local council they will give you the number for the beekeeper they recommend to remove swarms he's your man for your first colony.

Honey bees are only aggressive if protecting there hive or if they have lost there queen through old age or illness and they are not getting there pheromone dose.

Bees can be kept in any small garden the trick is to surround the hives with six foot fence panels it forces them to fly up and away as opposed to having humans cross there flight path.

enjoy beekeeping its a great hobby

Thanks for the call Jeff, would like to buy some of your gear the turn of the year .
