Bad news, chaps. Hope it all gets sorted.
Regardless of whether or not insurance covers the loss (and there's still excesses and loss of no claims to consider), thefts and damage like this are a personal affront and bloody frustrating.
However, I can definitively claim it wasn't me in either instance - Nadeem, I would have had your spotlights and your camera mount, at the very least; Machine Cat - I'd have had the carbon lid.
I have a little personal attack alarm, activated by pulling out a pin, and tie this to the garage door. If the door opens without disabling the alarm, the little ear-splitting scream would wake me up balert me before they start on the bike alarm. However, it's only a matter of time before I get fed up with deafening myself, and stamp on the bloody thing. Also, it does defeat the object of having a remote control on the garage door when you have to go and sort the alarm first...
If there's no-one in the house, neighbours will just ignore the alarm (like we all do to some extent, I guess). If we're in, do I really want to tackle soemone who may be willing to grab the nearest tool in the garage and hit me with it? Tough call, but I suspect if it happens adrenaline will kick in and I'll go rushing down to kick their heads in, and THEN get floored and beaten to a pulp.
Maybe I'll rely on the insurance after all...
Robin.
