bike wont start

my 850's hooked up to an optimate and it shows the battery as being fine

went to start it this morning, when i turned the key all i got from it was a whinning noise (no clicks of death) and the rev counter crept up to 6000 but the engine hadnt started or turned over

hooked the bike back up to the optimate and an hour later the battery shows as fine but get the same symptons when trying to start

its back on the optimate and showing the battery as being fine


is the battery fecked or is it something else

Hall sensor, have you recently washed it or been out in heavy rain?

put a voltmeter on the battery as you start it, if it just drops to approx 10v it may be ok, if its fecked it will drop a lot lower.. i have had the same happen to me.

washed it about 2 years ago not been out in the rain for a while

just tried it again after 12 hours on the battery charger same result

jump started it from a car and it strated ok time for a new battery

Don't take any notice of readings on optimates mine has told me the batteries had it many times but always starts fine.

magnets have fallen off in your starter, the big boost from your car battery drives it through, did the starter "labour" even with the car battery?
