Bloody LC crap

What is the point I am missing the GS is a great do it all bike and easy to ride but its not a fast bike it is better than it should be given the outright lack of power compaired to a sports bike the size and weight but there are better bikes in all areas.

Anyone who thinks a GS is quicker than a sports bike need to remove the blinkers an average rider will be quicker on the GS as its easier to get the best out of a top pro rider will be quicker on the sports bike as they can get the best out of it if fact the pro rider will be quicker on most bikes than the average GS rider.

I think that because the GS is so easy to ride and forgiving is the key to its success it flatters Mr Average in to thinking he is a riding god where a sports bike makes Mr Average follow through when he opens the throttle and gets it in a twist as its more focused and not as forgiving.

You are correct, compared to a sport bike, the GS IS slow. In a straight line, I completely agree with you; on an A or perfect B road if you want a fast bike, don't buy a GS. BUT, in the real world, a GS will be quicker than a sport bike. I'm not talking about acceleration, as the GS has flat spots. No remap can remove those. But riding on a nadgery B or white road, or a badly surfaced A road, and a sport bike won't have a hope. And that, is the real world.:thumb

Exactly my point from earlier posts.
Its B,C and worse roads I ride. Any bike can cope, the GS is very good on them, but it cannot leave behind a well ridden cheaper bike such as a V strom. I may out accelerate one and have a higher top speed, come the cow shit and gravel coated bends and we are all down to the same speed, get stuck behind a car for a few seconds and they soon catch up, get to a junction before them and you have to wait so they know which way you have gone. What's he point of blowing away your riding friends anyway, they will eventually get pissed off and stop riding with you. Anybody riding only fast A roads trying to race Fire blades and R1s, well sorry you have bought the wrong bike.

Exactly, I like many GS owners have had sports bikes, but I really wish I had got a GS sooner, you can show up a sports bike on the country lanes, and when out on a normal ride out with mates keep a good pace going. The difference is when you get to your destination your mates on the sports bikes are aching and you are fine.

But if any of my sports bike riding mates give their blade or R1 a hand full they are gone, fact no GS will keep up with a sports bike more like pull along side at 100 then pull a wheelie and clear off.
If we are talking speed they win on the good roads we win on the bad. But all added up I am so pleased with my GSA and in a couple of years I shall buy another.

So as I said a GS is not a fast bike but handles well for what it is a good all rounder but not the fastest bike in any one area more focused bikes are faster the GS is an easy bike for the average rider to handle than most other types so is it fast no but still a great bike unless it breaks down

You're not a speechwriter for John Prescott, are you?

Average rider here for quite a few years. I am in the 'I enjoy much more riding a slower bike fast that ride a fast bike slow' camp. And I reckon I am a faster rider now on my 90th GSA TC but who cares.

Bikes, bollox and 'mine is bigger than yours' arguments... I love it, best £12 I've ever spent!

i sometimes think the gs defies logic and how fast it can corner and change direction on its skinny semi sports tyres on poor to medium quality roads, i think the telelever front end makes a huge difference, its not grip, try a s1000rr with hot racetec tyres..thats grip :D

Me too....except that I'm embarrassed by the size of my penis.................:green gri

So large it drops out of the leg whilst wearing shorts? I can see that being an embarrassment in certain social situations.

Wish I hadn't started it now , I only said I loved my troublesome bike ........bit like my kids really ....
