What is the point I am missing the GS is a great do it all bike and easy to ride but its not a fast bike it is better than it should be given the outright lack of power compaired to a sports bike the size and weight but there are better bikes in all areas.
Anyone who thinks a GS is quicker than a sports bike need to remove the blinkers an average rider will be quicker on the GS as its easier to get the best out of a top pro rider will be quicker on the sports bike as they can get the best out of it if fact the pro rider will be quicker on most bikes than the average GS rider.
I think that because the GS is so easy to ride and forgiving is the key to its success it flatters Mr Average in to thinking he is a riding god where a sports bike makes Mr Average follow through when he opens the throttle and gets it in a twist as its more focused and not as forgiving.
You are correct, compared to a sport bike, the GS IS slow. In a straight line, I completely agree with you; on an A or perfect B road if you want a fast bike, don't buy a GS. BUT, in the real world, a GS will be quicker than a sport bike. I'm not talking about acceleration, as the GS has flat spots. No remap can remove those. But riding on a nadgery B or white road, or a badly surfaced A road, and a sport bike won't have a hope. And that, is the real world.
