bought a 1100gs, have a few question's,?

had a few bmw's i've modified to my taste, i like them because the engine's are good, and the price's are'nt too bad, they end up being a lot cheaper after i've sold all the standard bit's off them i dont think are needed, plastic's etc,

the k75 was ok, but the handling left a lot to be desired,

this was a r100rs, converted it to a mono-shock,

Obvious,1100,s are without a doubt the best GS ever built.have,nt you owned one?if not go buy one, you,ll love it:thumb

I have had a few of them, that's why I asked the question, if you are going to turn a good bike into a rat bike why use a perfectly good gs, surely there must have been loads of scrapped bikes and on road 1100 r that were a much cheaper option?. different strokes for different folks but usually the bm`s are customised up in value and this kind of customising is a new idea to me. but it certainly is a different approach. its an interesting post to follow.

I few years ago I saw a K100RS out side a dealers in Stroud. The guy had converted it to a Rat bike. The only visible thing that made it out to be a BMW was the brick engine.

He had even converted it to carbs, binning the motronic and injection system. I was chatting too the owner and he said that BMW said it wouldn't convert. But clearly he knew better. I just marvelled at his ingenuity.

He even had a small plate on the side of the engine that said:

"well they fucked with your mini"

here's a question, i've looked all over but cant find out what the co2 figure should be, i know i'll have to take the bike to a garage and have them stick the probe up the exhaust pipe, but i need to know the figure i'm looking for, anyone, ??

About 2% from what I've been told by those who know on here.

That said, I couldn't get mine down anywhere near that without knackering the running - see here: http://www.ukgser.com/forums/showthread.php?336350-Throttle-body-balance-zero-zero-etc/page6 . Mine ended up at about 4.5% but performed perfectly on a 2.5k fully loaded two up trip around the alps averaging 50ish mpg at that setting - so I stopped worrying about it.

Make sure your TPI and throttle body balance are right before messing with the CO2 pot.

Are you going to be happy with the leverage you will be placing on the foot peg brackets.

I hope I'm wrong, but if I you stood up on your new pegs, the original brackets would likely shear off.

yes they probably would, if i put all my weight on them, but i'm not going trial's riding, so i wont be up on them, so i'll use them as "footrest's",
i have a plan "B" for the footrest construction, some 12mm alloy plate, but these'll do for now,
