bought a 1100gs, have a few question's,?

teamin,
is the remus silencer a straight through absorbsion type, and did you have to change anything concerning the mixture, ignition etc, or did you just put it on and it ran ok,?
The Remus is a straight through and there was no need to change anything.
Lovely nice deep tone out of the bike and in my opinion not "too" loud. My mates have never complained about it other than mentioning hearing it when we passed through tunnels.
Dare I say it, Steptoe is one of the main voices of reason here. And as he says, it does nothing for the performance but for me the bike sounds they way I want it.

Bog standard for me. I don, t like the wrong people to know i, am coming, and its another bonus if they don, t even know i, ve been.

thank's, the last thing i want to do is end up running too lean and burn a hole in a piston, happened once when i did'nt up-jet on my old xs650, if i do end up buying the gs and fit the cherrybomb silencer, i'll do a few plug check's just to make sure everything's ok,

Hey new 1100 owner. I'm an r850r owner who had an 1150gsa that wasn't as good as an 1100.

If your bike is anything like mine (I would consider myself an 1100 owner when chatting on this forum), it'll run differently in different days depending on the weather.

I recon mine just mades Noises. Just ride it and be delighted/furious with it in 10 hours...

Imagine it. Work shift - cold crisp morning. Perfect bike. Humid cloudy nasty warm winters evening, ran perfect on the way in and chav on the way home.

We don't have chavs here in Dublin. We have knackers.

Eh, just put loads of oil changes in, I do 3-5000 miles depending on how I'm feeling. It's that co2 what's it. No better than the lambda sensor if my 1150 GSA was anything to go by.

Hi
If you do decide to change the wheels and they're in good nick please PM me as I'm looking for a new pair.

Many thanks and good luck with the bike - one small piece of advice, if I may, if you're new to an 1100 don't judge it too early, give it a bit of time - they're a keeper.

Dont forget to Check Brake Hoses
They balloon and fail
Spoil ur day big style
Fit stainless

well it arrived today, everything seem's ok, gave it a bit of a thrash round the estate, no problem's, it's HPI clear, bit of service history, stamped book up to 30k mile's, a few recipt's for tyre's, oil change's etc, tool-kit's there, it's been tarted up a bit with silver paint on the wheel's, fork's and engine casing's, but i recon it's not too bad for a 15 year old bike, i'll change all the fluid's and check everything before i go any distance though,

thing that i noticed is the rear disc seem's very close to the rubber boot on the rear drive, look's like it's touching the tiewrap to me, are they supposed to be like that,?

the rear caliper need's looking at too, new pad's maybe,

Doesn't look right to me fella, they,ll be an expert along soon so hang in there.dont take it out again though, nothing worse than the rear wheel coming off soon a steady 80 down your favourite stretch of m,way:aidan

The disc does run pretty close to the ziptie on the boot, but should not be touching it. Not much of a gap on my 1100rt. Good idea to change all the fluids etc. Gives you a good starting point. I did the brake fluid on my RT at the weekend, it looked like this before I changed it:

And this was on a bike with a service stamp in the book from less than a year ago

the disc is'nt grooved, just rusty where the pad's have'nt been touching it, think a bit of wire-brushing and new pad's will sort it, the main thing i'm wondering about is how close the disc is to the rubber boot,?

Yeh, feck the disc, you spend your money on the important things like a noisy exhaust :D

Never mind any of that.
It's an 1100, it should have a nice SS clamp not a nasty plastic cable tie :D

ooooo', get out of bed the wrong side, today, did we,:D
i had the cherrybomb left over from another project, it was'nt bought for this bike, obviously when i take the disc off and it's not serviceable, i'll buy another one,
