have a 2013 GSA with ABS and it has a weird issue with the front brake. Every now and then the lever will come straight back to the bar and the brakes need a quick pump to work. It can work fine for a few hundred miles and then go once or a few times, then OK again. Pads look OK and the fluid looks OK too. Any ideas ?

Master cylinder fault is my guess, maybe a torn or inverted piston seal?

Probably best to speak to your Motorrad agent, no brakes is no joke.

BMW do not sell master cylinder seals so take your mortgage adviser along.
Try bleeding at the the master cylinder bleed nipple. Also tie the lever back to handlebar overnight.
BUT - but, you may well need a new master cylinder as that’s the only way air can get in without an obvious fluid leak.

I think Motor Works do a repair kit, if it is the MC seals, so it might be worth giving them a call

I hope so because mine is now nearly 10 years old with 70K miles so the master cylinder seals have to be well past their best. I've already stripped the calipers - pistons & seals out, clean and replace.
