hi, yesterday on the motorway my 1200gs cut out,i closed the throttle, opened it again and the power came back! any idea what that was? ken:bow

talk to a BMW dealer and they will describe it as either an endearing feature or you have opted for the BMW cut out pack.

My 07 GSA has been doing this since I got it new. Now 23k miles and several services (and a recall!) later it's still happening.

The Battersea people have replaced the ignition coils for me (made no difference) and made rather supercilious comments along the lines of "oh of course I know exactly what that is sir just leave it with us blah blah" all to no avail. Not once has anyone expressed concern or asked a single question about how/when it happens.

In truth it's not the bike I have a problem with - it's the people at Battersea with their smugness and refusal to take a problem seriously. I think they sit there repeating to themselves "BMW bikes don't go wrong".

Anyway it was my first BMW bike and I feel let down. I've decided to hand it back to them in November - thank goodness I went for the select option and didn't buy it - and will go back to my 2004 FJR which has been waiting patiently in the garage. Now THERE'S a great bike!!! :JB

Faulty ignition switch contacts.

Water in killswitch assembly.

Short circuit somewhere causing ZFE module to power down.

Impending FPC Failure.

You could always use another dealer with a better reputation:augie

Exactly the same as what happened to me when my fuel pump controller failed. Lasted all the next day without a hitch, a few hiccups the next day, then failed for good two days later.

Thank you - if I go back there before handing the bike back I'll suggest these possibilities.

Can you recommend one?

Thanks,
