Dirty Bike

Hi All,

I've had the bike now for 48 hours and this thing is absolutely filthy!!

I know it's been raining, but I never expected the bike to be that dirty after 200 miles.

I've got the mud slinger things installed which didn't seem to make much of a difference.

Has anyone else got this problem?!

If you still have the coal scuttle attached to the final drive, remove it and fit a number plate flap / extender / thingummybob. Something like this will do the job, although the Touratech thing compromises function for "style". The plastic device attached to the bevel is only there to satsisfy TÜV rear bumper height regulations and all it achieves is to direct a jet of dirty water at the back of your leg. Fi
 
Set aside 2 hours for a half descent clean, 3 hours for a proper jobbie and a day when you take all the panels off to give it a spring clean. The more you wash it the quicker you'll be able to do it. It is a bastard to keep clean and I thought the hexhead was a bugger.
 
I have never known a bike like the GS to throw gritty shit all over the place. The rider gets the backs of their legs covered and the pillion fares even worse.
I fitted these Puig thingies and found they stop a lot of the passenger covering muck, the rest of the bike.........?

I found the infill panels made the biggest difference.
They are very well made and look like they (should have) came with the bike.

YES I am just up the road In Winchester and the rain is dirty up here aswell.
 
My GSA is one of the easiest bikes to clean.:nenau

Buy a Karcher.:rob
 
I have pressure washer. A Halford special but there is some deals to be had on the Karcher products. Which one you got? The K2 has a pickup for the soap but the K4 has more oomph.

The wife bought it, so it's the cheapest.:D

It's good enough to clean the GSA from start to finish in under half an hour though.:thumb

I'm glad it's not just me who finds it to be a very dirty bike.

I like the idea of the larger hugger, so will investigate that option more.

I've got a pressure washer, so will give that a go over the weekend.

just take the bike back and rejected it !!! its not for for purpose if you can't keep it clean!!!

RIDE IT ..GET IT DIRTY….CLEAN IT …repeat !

Great bikes have fun off road on it ,in proper dirt
 
Spray with snow foam (and some Muck Off if it's really bad), leave it to dwell for 5 mins, jet wash off, dry with large micro fibre towel. It looks as good as new.
 
The local BMW dealer told me that MucOff is not "compatible" with BMW bikes. Make of that what you will !

I agree - it's too aggressive for water based paint, especially when it's on top of magnesium alloy.
