Hi

Not a computer wizz, a mate has given my pc a health check, new hard drive, wipe etc.

The problem is i'm trying to setup my email accounts again and WFT is smtp http pop3 etc

i have got 5 email accounts i want to set up. i know how to show a name but the next page takes me through to smtp http pop3 etc..

i know last time i did it, it was easy but this time :nenau

POP = Post Office Protocol. Your incoming mail server. Will be something like pop.yourdomain.com or mail.yourdomain.com etc. Get the address from your provider

SMTP = Simple Mail Transfer Protocol. Your outgoing mail server. Will be something like smtp.yourdomain.com etc. Get the address from your provider

http = Hyper Text Transfer Protocol. A request/response protocol used to transfer info on the web. Nothing to do with your mail.

You could of course have found all this info on the web in a couple of mins ;)

Most likely to be POP3/SMTP but for the definitive answer go to the respective mail hosts website and look up the support pages.

Or lazy option tell us here the bits after the @ in your email address.

after the @ is ntlworld.com

i kinda like the lazy option as it is you guys that help us all out at times..

So why the f*!k does the forum have a "Computer Help" section then? And isn't this site on the web, hence Mark finding his way here in the first place?

Another condescending comment aimed at discouraging people from using the help available here through the goodwill of the forum members. Excellent

Myself and Judge gave him the answer he was looking for but not until the next day. My friendly suggestion (hence the ;) ) to use a web search engine could well have provided the answer in several minutes as opposed to waiting overnight.

Thanks Guys

I knew if i asked you lot would help

Doesn't seem like a man who thinks I was being condescending to him, does it?
