Wondering if anyone has experienced similar.

When I try to change engine mode, the mode I want eg Rain comes up but the Dynamic mode stays in background (see picture) - after a couple of minutes it reverts to Dynamic mode - so effectively I can't change engine mode - any thoughts? Switching it off and on again has no effect!

Not teaching my grandmother to suck eggs but I take it you do close the throttle right off when the new mode shows to trigger the change?
Just asking.

It's a good question of course - but yes throttle closed off - makes no difference

I suspect this won’t help your problem, but this is what the manual says:-

This throttle grip can actually be pushed forward (it disengages the cruise control)

So I would try changing whilst doing that, if that works then your throttle is not settling at the zero position which is required to change modes..... I have a feeling your throttle/grip is on its way out as they are not adjustable. (A common issue)

Is this on the move or at a standstill? Mine's an older bike (2015) but pulling in the clutch and releasing also let's it change mode.
Well it should change at standstill and on move but won't do either - the way the screen looks isn't right -

Interesting - will have a look

Well - that's amazing - pushing the throttle forward solves it - so modes now change. Never come across that before!

So is it the whole unit - the handlebar grip that needs replacing about £225 at Motorworks

Assuming that this wouldn't be covered under BMW approved used warranty as it's a wearable part?

Yes it should but either your throttle isn't returning to or the system isn't seeing it in the 0 position (bar end weight too tight/accessory) so the canbus isn't allowing the change.

Or your throttle is about to die (mine died but wouldn't accelerate) which means a whole new grip (£250 ish I believe for the throttle side).

I'm not just a pretty face 😎 lol glad we've identified the issue but as I said check tightness of things and that the throttle is free as you could be wasting money for a simple fix.

Recently put some SW Motech bar ends on - so maybe I'll take a look at those first off

So - there's is nothing obvious sticking - throttle moves freely - same with or without handguards bolted in - throttle seems to come to it's normal stop - but for the mode to change have to positively push against the stop point for there to be a change.

My experience of mode changing while in motion is to select the mode and quickly dip the clutch to effect the change. Could your issue be a faulty clutch micro switch? A simple test would be to engage cruise control while in motion and see if it disconnects as it should if you dip the clutch.

Well least you know it does work if you do that (if it didn't could have been a bigger issue)

I would see how it goes for now without spending the cash

When I bought my 2019GSA the dealer explained that you must roll the throttle forward beyond ‘fully shut’ to activate mode changes. Mine needs this to change riding modes on the fly, so I wouldn’t bother replacing your throttle it’s normal on my bike.

Yep - my thoughts too - thanks

Interesting - that the dealer says something different to the manual - but reassuring to know - thanks

All 5 of my GS/GSAs, spanning model years 2015 to 2024, have changed engine modes by either being:
1 - stationary
2 - moving and pulling in the clutch (my normal method)
3 - moving and rolling the throttle just past its idle position (no real force required for this)

There is a microswitch in the clutch.
It should click when you pull it in.

This disengages the cruise control and also changes ride mode.
if it doesn't and you can only do it pushing the throttle forward, the switch has gone.
