Thanks for all your thoughts and advice.
Mulled it over until this morning then decided to stop sitting on the fence and put a deposit down on a new 2015 model. Only extras I wanted were panniers and engine bars, couldn't get on with the gear shift assist (I know it probably takes more than an hour to get familiar with it).
Got the difference between the demo bike and new bike down to well under two grand. I take on board what everybody has said about ex-demo bikes being a good deal but in the end I just wanted a brand new bike. This will the first bike I've had new since I bought an MZ to learn on in 1987.
Hopefully over 5 or 6 years of ownership the difference will be less noticeable.
Now just have to wait for delivery.
