Ex- Demo Bikes

Thanks for all your thoughts and advice.

Mulled it over until this morning then decided to stop sitting on the fence and put a deposit down on a new 2015 model. Only extras I wanted were panniers and engine bars, couldn't get on with the gear shift assist (I know it probably takes more than an hour to get familiar with it).

Got the difference between the demo bike and new bike down to well under two grand. I take on board what everybody has said about ex-demo bikes being a good deal but in the end I just wanted a brand new bike. This will the first bike I've had new since I bought an MZ to learn on in 1987.

Hopefully over 5 or 6 years of ownership the difference will be less noticeable.

Now just have to wait for delivery.

Surely 2015 bikes should be in stock at the dealers, and it's the 2016 bikes you need to order?:nenau

Group stock, won't be a newly built bike from Germany. My understanding that is that all the dealers have access to these bikes and have to negotiate with each other for them. I appreciate that my insight into the motor trade is limited however. Doesn't seem to be many basic TE spec bikes left, choice was red or red. Good job I wanted red. Seemed to be more room for negotiation with the unregistered 2015 bikes.

Don't think North Oxford had any unregistered bikes in stock.

Should have the bike in a 10 to 14 days, was quoted end of October/start of November for a bike that had to be built.

In my case i bought a demo without realising it.

Bike was dealer's demo, was then bought by a chap that literally keep it for a week before trading in for a new R nine t.

So when I saw it for sale I was told that it was owned by a customer who traded it in for an R nine t... The back story appeared when the V5 arrived and I discovered that the previous owner was not the first and the last owner change was only days before.

I've since discovered that at least one tosser helped ensure that the bike didn't get glazed bores during the demo period...
