First negative of a 1250 GSA

I used to read Sun at lunch......some political bullocks, stories about numpties and a few tits.......now I just use this site......:blagblah
Anyone know where I can get a Gucci seat..........

Equilibrium is restored. At one end of the spectrum dub is tearing down and refurbishing an oil head and to balance that out we have this..... Yin and Yang. Though sadly seems an awful lot more of the latter, but then I suppose it takes a lot of shite to counterbalance a good quality rebuild thread.

Simples. Put crocodile clips on the ends of the pump cable. Take off triangular panel on O/S of bike. Neg clips to neg on battery. Theres a round red plastic cap. Remove and use for the pos clip.

NEXT !!!

I fitted one of these direct to the battery. It is enough to run a pump for your tyres. I bought it in Halfords.

I carry an electric pump when touring in case of puncture and simply use crocodile clips and attach direct to the battery.

It might be rated at 4A but the pumped could well take a lot more than that at startup and this could be the cause of it tripping out.

Exactly. 4amps is not a light continuous load either. I think those systems from Canbus are rated 2amp max....

As others said, take it directly from battery. Ideally pre wire a plug down there and keep it for these...

Not really sure if this thread was a serious one tbh, it hardly warrants a ‘first negative......’ if the bike just can’t inflate an air bed (I thought everyone knows that you have to go off the battery with gear like this) but I must and will respect your concerns! Ride safe fella and sleep well :)

With engine running when inflating would help also if he does not know..............:D

I am sure that everyone does however it is still a fair point, that after spending 17k on a bike you have to install extra bits as the ones fitted wont work, whether it be an air bed pump, tyre pump or what ever it is piss poor.

I really respect your opinion and I’m pleased you’ve hopefully got a resolution - if you do connect a permanent power take off to your battery (which is what I did) it’s good advice to include a fuse (rated for airbeds etc) which I’m sure you will. Ride (and inflate) safely :)

For what it's worth.

BMW are probably using PolyFuse in order to provide a resettable fuse. This means that if someone puts on whatever type of contraption and get a short, simply pulling it out and turn off ignition will reset the output.

The downside is that a Polyfuse emits som internal heath whenever in use, and if you need higher current draws, it needs a bit of cooling effort, such as extra wide track and space on the circuit board. Given that the chosen plug type (DIN type) is a small current type best suited for phone chargers, small external lamps etc, items with a bit heavier load is best of avoiding the DIN type plug. (Yes, I know, a small air-pump will work with a DIN plug. But it may get warm if used for a while).

Used as intended, the Aux power output works great. But if you need heavier electrical load, hydraulic output for your farming gear or a winch, this is not standard equipment, and extra outfitting will be needed.
