fitting of bars

Just fitted the H & B bars today
Could not have done it without your instructions.
Why not send the printed instructions you produced to H & B and suggest that they enclose them with future sales that are made in the English speaking world?
Thanks again

Just got my HB Bars today from Motobins (excellent service - ordered Wednesday...delivered Thursday).

so i've downloaded Simons instructions and i'm gonna tackle the task tomorrow.

so here goes.....

Hi

Yes, I'm another GSer thanking you for those instructions.....they took all the guess work out of a fiddly little job.

Cheers

OK, if you like what you see and are tempted to buy and fit, or for those already in possession, I hope these instructions are helpful.
Hi Simon,

I just installed the Hepco on my 2000 GS1150 with your instructions. Perfect !
Thank you very much for that.
I will try to translate it in French for giving my part of help in the "GS lovers" world.
Thank again,
Regards.

BTW they're in .PDF format so if you can't open the file send me a private message with your e-mail address and I will mail you a Wordfile as an attachment. I also have a larger .PDF file with a diagram for the bolt placcements. If you want that too, do likewise.

Good luck.

Hi Simon,

I'm another 1100 owner borrowing your instructions, They were very helpful. The only problem is that I now have ringing in the ears from the left hand bar touching the tank where it descends from the from the front fitting. Any ideas why?

The 1100 kit is different because the right hand bar has a bracken for the rear fixing point which otherwise faces backwards (hope you know what I mean). I got 3 x 12 mm spacers in the kit and one 20mm one and only one 65 mm M10 bolt. If I read the German instructions correctly, the 65 mm bolt is fitted to the left hand rear fixing point above the foot peg. It looks very proud of the frame. A 12 mm spacer works fine. could this be causing the interference with the tank?

I am hoping someone else has had this problem and can save me from having to swap spacers around just to check.

Please understand that the instructions were fine. I like many others owe you a pint. (god help your liver!)

Nigel.

Ok here we are engine bars are now fitted, encountered a few problems, well only one, which was trying to get the main bolt back into the left side foot hanger, which was a right pig to get back in spent almost 2 (yes two) hours messing :spitfire about trying to the bloody thing back in, in desperation i phoned CW in Dorchester and spoke to a top bloke Ian in the workshops

His only suggestion was to loosen the other two bolts on the foot hanger, tried that, bloody thing went stright in first time, tighten that one up and left all the others loose, while we attempted the right hand side, and like most thing you do, the othe side went much smoother, only took us 45 mins to do the other side, and again taking Ian's advised slackened off the other other bolts on the foot hanger, and not quiet the first time but it did not take long to get the main bolt in, tighened up all the other bolts, too sweet now

Have included a few photos - first one is off the offending foot hanger bolt, now known as the "Bitch" the other self explanitorty

Like to say a few thank-you's first to Simon Eassom, for his Instructions in English very easy to follow and understand :bow , secondly to my mate Trippy :clap thanks Jim, and lastly to Ian in the Workshops at CW top bloke :bow

If anyone else is thinking of fitting the bars themselves, as it says in Simons instructions be patient, and the other thing try loosening the two other bolts on the foot hanger, soooo much easy to get the larger bolts in. or get someone else to fit them for you

Finally one other tip DO NOT leave your camera balancing on the rack, cos they do'nt bounce when the bike slips off the jack, i think i have totoally shagged mine, had to get the old fuji one out to take the photos

Cheers

i have just copied the above - from another post that i put on here for when i fitted my bars, one thing i do agree with is take your time, and i found that it helps if you loosen the other two bolts on the foot hanger - makes things alot easier when trying to fit the other bolt

the tank cover can be obtained from marks garage in essex i have a key if any of you are interested  :thumb
