Personally I'd be wary of buying a bike from someone whose first post is to sell it. There'll probably be calls for ebay style seller / buyer ratings, but if the person has posted questions about the bike, bought some bits etc, then that gives an indication to me that the deal should go ok. YMMV.

George, sorry to hear about your experience. I have bought and sold, and given away and been given stuff through the site and have never had any problems at all.
One thing people should think carefully about when selling is the price they post up that they want. Items can be very popular on here and often things get sold very quickly so it often tends to be a sellers market. The first few things I sold I underpriced and they went within minutes of posting, even in the early hours of the morning. I had somebody local wanting one item but they were not the first PM I had. The first one was somebody abroad and while it would have been far easier to sell the item locally (and was offered more money) I still went through with the first offer which was not as convenient or fast as it would have been with going local. If Muddy fox had set his price higher when first posted then there would have been no problem. You can always reduce your price if the item is not moving.
I am a firm believer in fate so that GS was never meant for you. It will work out

I agree and an idea might be for members to be subscribed for a minimum period before being allowed to sell items on here, which would stop 'fly-tipping' and people offlaoding bad deals on members...

My public IP is allocated by Virgin and frequently varies. Most ISPs operate in the same way.
Currently my IP shows as 81.107.216.199 which resolves to a Virgin node in Guildford client-81-107-216-199.glfd.adsl.virgin.net
Reboot the router and I'm on 82.3.226.135 which is another node at Guildford
client-82-3-226-135.glfd.adsl.virgin.net

my concern is that you didn't know that - i.e. some other Virgin customer upsets you and you block everyone connecting to the the internet through a particular node. This could mean other Tossers are randomly excluded from this site as & when Virgin allocate that node as their dynamic IP.

Having read and re-read the thread, primarily because the site is a little flat just now.......I am struggling to really see where the witch hunt is correct.
Having tried to sell my bike on here it is a nightmare, and to be honest having endured the "yeah. i'll take it etc etc etc" from every corner of the British Isles if I had 2 people jockeying I'd play the game too.
Its only a sale when the money is in the bank anyway, and I would also suggest there was never another buyer and the thread starter perhaps seemed a bit too keen.
Muddyfox only did what happens in the housing market every minute of every day. I would cocoa some of the witch hunters have done it when selling a house as well!!
On this occasion it backfired, but whats the issue. Brotherhood? Bollocks!
Too much is made on that subject, usually by a select few.
I say its worth whatever someone is willing to pay. If you don't want to pay then move on.
It says a lot about how quiet the site is if this is the best bandwagon on the go!
