Having read and re-read the thread, primarily because the site is a little flat just now.......I am struggling to really see where the witch hunt is correct.

Having tried to sell my bike on here it is a nightmare, and to be honest having endured the "yeah. i'll take it etc etc etc" from every corner of the British Isles if I had 2 people jockeying I'd play the game too.

Its only a sale when the money is in the bank anyway, and I would also suggest there was never another buyer and the thread starter perhaps seemed a bit too keen.

Muddyfox only did what happens in the housing market every minute of every day. I would cocoa some of the witch hunters have done it when selling a house as well!!

On this occasion it backfired, but whats the issue. Brotherhood? Bollocks!

Too much is made on that subject, usually by a select few.

I say its worth whatever someone is willing to pay. If you don't want to pay then move on.

It says a lot about how quiet the site is if this is the best bandwagon on the go!

Ian

remined me never to even consider buying anything of you :thumb2

It's much more basic than that Ian and I fear you have missed the point. Muddyfox and Geo had a deal, a "Virtual handshake", then Muddyfox broke that gentlemans agreement.

Ultimately, all that any man has is his word. It's Muddyfox breaking his word and behaving dishonestly that is the issue here.

Perhaps its not what was done but the way it was done.

If he had advertised it and someone agreed to buy it but then found they could not afford his price would they be forced to buy it? No.

If he advertised it too cheaply and it was a raging bargain through a mistake would he be expected to sell it? no.

Simple fact is that we would all love more for something than the best offer. E-bay is a prime example.

Someone mentioned gazumping. It happens. All the time. You sell your house and someone offers more, you pull the plug and go another way.

Like I said, its quiet on the forum. If this is all we have its a sad day.

He's got a point, I'd be wary of buying / selling anything to you too :(

Guys, why have a 'personal go' at me? I'm only giving my opinion.

Especially in these tough times it is every man/woman for themselves. You have no idea why the bike is being sold and for what purpose the money is for. It could be to fund a life saving operation or take a terminally ill child on a lifetime trip. Or it could just be for MF to buy a new bike.

If the bike is worth the extra then its a fair price, and perhaps the guy just mis-valued his possession. £500 is £500. If you saw it on the street you'd pick it up.

Like I said, I had to endure the verbal diahorrea that was everyones opinion when I sold my bike. I ended up selling it to a dealer and got my price for it. The flip side of this is the time wasters on here who could not value a £5 note and the total knobs who had me wasting my time sending pictures only for them to spank out a 'virtual one' over a bike they could not afford anyway.

Whilst it is tough on the loser, I see little wrong. If the guy does not want to pay the price he looks for another.

And again, as for the Brotherhood etc, its bollocks.

And for those who would not deal with me, I bet you would try if I happened to undervalue my bike and try and sell it on here! :nenau

I think u have missed the point. JJH

I think muddyfox behaved baddly for this site. but he behaved more typically of people in genral, it might be an idea to be more warry of people with not much time in or low expossure to the site,as the group dynamic dosent have the same policeing effect. the people who offer well below market rate for stuff might want to examine there conscience, may be it would be an idea to prevent people selling stuff till they had reached a certain post count, or 3 months in.

Badly, and it worries me.

Lugs- it may be odd and it may be hard to appreciate for someone who hasn't been around for long but the FS&W section has always operated on 'gentleman's rules' and that's the way we want to keep it for as long as possible- it has so many advantages (stuff gets sent out immediately, before payments clear, you know what you're getting, people get better deals etc etc)

If everyone started selling with your attitude, there wouldn't be any point in having a section here.......people might as well stick everything on ebay and screw everyone else :(

It's being mooted:thumb2

The value of anything is what the buyer is prepared to pay and what the seller is prepared to accept, the reasons for sale are irrelevant, once a deal is agreed then your word should be your bond, wether its a bike, car, house, if you think otherwise then you are a lowlife plain and simple, and no I wont buy anything from you, I have principals honour and respect and thats more important to me than a few extra pounds :augie

Gents. Its just the flip side. I don't know why the guy upped his price, but if was too cheap and he realised then fairs fair. Which is more wrong, realising and giving the first guy refusal but at a fair market value or someone being taken for £500 because he just did not know the true value and the buyer keeping schtum??

If he did it to hold a gun to a desperate mans head then that is another story.

But, don't start to have a wee flap at me. I'm just making another point. And a relevant one too. But the ones dishing out 'honour, trust and bikers to the death' are just being naive.

Honestly. It is sunny. Go ride your bikes:aidan

still missing the point JJH

Guys I really think we should draw a line under this now, there's no point in falling out over it, the sale didn't go ahead, George still has his money and will no doubt get a very nice GS from an honourable tosser, sorted I reckon.

..........................:)

+1.

Well said WB. :thumb2

This wouldn't solve everything (and apologies if it's already been posted) but surely you should only be able to post in the 'For Sale & Wanted' section if you've been a subscriber for so long, or made a certain number of Posts..?

Also, (call me naive if you like), there should be (and is - I've met some fantastic people on this site) a 'GS brotherhood'. Otherwise this site'll just descend to the level of normal life, and what'd be the point of that..?
