I have an '09 bike and need a pair of front discs & pads for a second set of wheels.

I was going to get EBC aftermarket front discs and pads, but I've discovered that BMW changed the design of the front discs for bikes made after November 2007, and EBC didn't know about this.

Pics from the fiche at Max Motorcycles online fiche

- The new type has integral "bobbins", the old type had "self assembly" bobbins.
- EBC only make the old type. As confirmed with John Wright, EBC Motorbike Technical on 01604 583 344.
- Bobbin type is better, according to my reading, which is likely why BMW have adopted it. Less disk warping apparently.
- The downside is that EBC weren't aware of this (not surprising as its v hard to keep up). They will need ~8 weeks to schedule in the the new type disc.
- So for post Nov '07 bike's, stuck with BMW parts for now.

EBC disk = ~£170pr. BMW disk ~£312pr. :blast

Grrr.

[But its not all bad, as it looks like the rear disc is unchanged]

OK - given up on this aftermarket stuff and taken the plunge with BMW parts. Ordered today. For reference, parts for an '08 on GSA are as follows (with BM part numbers):

34117711427 2 front discs @ £135.65ea
34117701390 10 bolts @ £0.53ea
34117671780 2 prs front pads @ £41.13ea
34527680476 1 abs sensor ring @ £36.00ea

Came to £454.10 inc VAT !!! Ouch.

No I didn't, but looking at the picture of it on the linked post, its the "old" style disk, not the "new" style, so no use to post 11/07 bikes...

I asked about them and he has them in stock for the 08 GSA, will double check

You need to check carefully. I spoke with two EBC re-sellers, and they were adamant that they would fit an 08-> bike. They were keen for me to take the discs, try them and return if wouldn't fit. Aggro.

It was only when I spoke with EBC technical support that I was told that they would not fit.

Bottom line, if the after market front discs do not have the integrated bobbins / rivets (or whatever you want to call them) they are no good for an 08-> bike, and you are sentenced to BMW OEM parts for the time being.

Rear disc is unchanged AFAIK.
