There was a thread on here about points/locations disappearing in the later versions of City Navigator Europe... but it seems to have gone AWOL or I just cant find it.
Anyway, I have been a bit pissed off that my village no longer has a "point" on the map as of CN-EU 2009, (2010 is the same). Many other villages or hamlets have also been reduced to a name alongside a road and no point marker. This means you cant route to it unless you find where it is and make your own waypoint.
In reply to emails, Garmin said it was Navteq's fault as they supplied the map data and Garmin write their software to utilise it.
Several emails later, I have the following mail from Navteq: From what we understand, the places you describe as missing are present on the Navteq database but not marked on the screen displayed to you. Navteq is the map database supplier for your device. However, the route calculation and they way this information is displayed to you is system software related. As we do not supply the system software, we would advise that you contact Garmin directly about this issue.
In these 2 pictures, you can see what I mean about missing points... and this is quite a small area - 1km resolution:
CNEU2008
CNEU2009
So, I guess its back to Garmin with more ammunition.
Anyone else notice places being dropped?
John
