I know one!

I keep thinking maybe I'm over reacting as it should be something simple to fix, once found.

But twelve months without a resolution and I'm beginning to wonder just how seriously this has been taken by them?

And bikeless is really pissing me off.

So Davel................it's Monday morning, the sun's shining

Who ya gonna call

No fucker apparently.

The dealer's guy to talk to, about rejection, is off until 5 January and my solicitor is off until 4 January.

I've emailed both but nothings going to happen about that till then.

In the meantime, they are planning to swap both the battery and the ECR on the bike to see if that fixes it.

The only things that they haven't checked are the panniers...

I keep emailing BMW Customer Service but, of course, the dealer is the person that I bought from.

A nice chap on here gave me another email address, so might try him too.

Have you tried emailing.

[email protected] (he is one of the top men and overseas all warranty claims - rejections)

Or

[email protected] (field engineer, the one and only)

If no joy I have direct tel no's if it helps.

I personally would go straight to andy cook, customer services are pointless, if you reject the bike your dealer will email Andy cook for assistance from bmw HQ so don't piss around go to the top .

Thank you very much for those.

Have just emailed Andy Cook.

Just had a telephone call from the Manager at BMW Customer Service and 'hopefully' something will be sorted.

Will keep you informed but thank you to everyone who has inputted on here and sent me messages.

He seems a really helpful chap and should be able to sort this.

Andy Cooke is doing other stuff now but the email was forwarded on to this guy.

It sounds to me like it could be something peculiar to your location. Perhaps there is something transmitting nearby that is waking up the keyless ignition system continuously. When they take the bike off to the dealer everything seems fine, then they bring it back to you and the problem re-occurs. Can you try parking it at friend's for a few days and see if the battery runs down?

Well we're out in the sticks between a dairy farm and a farm cottage so I don't think that that's likely.

If it comes back, I'll give it a try but even the dealer seems to accept that here is a fault.

There's a church nearby, maybe God is trying to prevent me from riding.

Joking apart though has anyone ever reported / experienced this ?

I had a new gs and on one occasion it would not start whilst parked at a certain petrol station, It was Dead .

I pushed it down the rd turned the ignition on and perfect !

Yes but when mine was dead, it really was dead.

It was still dead when it reached the dealer so doubt it's that..

Plus it normally starts here apart from when it won't !

Dairy farm; check if the farmer is using transponders to monitor milk yield, if so his antenna array could be causing your malfunction.

Will ask him but surely the bike would have started when it got back to the dealer about 10 miles away?

Any idea is worth considering so ta!

Plus, of course, it usually starts first time except when it doesn't - if you see what I mean.

Sorry it's not really helpful, but I have a vague recollection of a BMW 320 belonging to a girl I used to work with that would not start in certain locations. She would return to the car only for it to be totally dead, once moved it would start fine.

If I remember correctly they put it down to some type of transmitter interfering with the immobiliser.

There is a place in Milton Keynes that keeps Toyota's from starting. It's intermittent too. I experienced it. The residents in that area told me it happens to all the visitors with Toyotas and some other makes as well. Point is, interference does happen. They suspect it's the bank nearby. It is worth looking into.

Well, Ben Perry at BMW Motorrad seems to be getting things sorted, but likely to be in the new year now.

There is a problem with the bike and they are still investigating.

Will know in the new year whether they can fix and extend the warranty (which I'm not keen on to be honest) or replace (which I'd prefer).

Either way, I think we're getting there thanks to his involvement.

I'll update when I know what's proposed / agreed.
