Handlebar advice

The Rox anti vibe risers are expensive. The fixed and adjustable types are more reasonable.
If you want forward and backward adjustments you'll need lower rise bars than standard.
I chose the McGrath bend.

well, trial fitted some lower bars i picked up off ebay, had to trim the screen for clearance on full lock but no biggie as im gonna cut the screen to a shortie and paint it anyway, just ordered some threaded inserts for the bar ends some hopfully they will turn up tusday so i can fit em then fit all the switchgear properly, going into BMW preston on thursday for recalls so will get a chance to try it out then....

ok, tried the lower bars, felt ok regarding my back but lots of tingling through the bars with being alloy and the bars didn't have enough sweep for me, like the standard bar sweep

Anyway the cheapy risers turn up so thought i'd try then with the standard bars

Went as far forward as i could and still get the key in !
Been out round ther lakes today, did 130 miles with no back ache so think i've cracked it :bounce1
Different route to how i thought would need for my gimp back but higher and forward is the way to go for me :nenau

Gonna get some shorter bolts for the risers so the thread's aren't showing but for £23 they good great and feel reassuringly sturdy

hopfully job done and i can keep the GS :beerjug:

Next on the shopping list is a new tinted screen, i ended up trimming the original screen for the lower bars but not too bothered as it was scratched from when i hit a pheasant first time out !!!

If the new bars cause vibes you could always try injecting some plumbers silicone into them to dampen any resonance.

Have you tried this??

I'm getting new heated grips on the bike over the next week or so (along with ABS refurb and YSS rear shock) and I might take the opportunity to fill the bars while my mechanic has the ends off.

I did mine and it helped dull some vibrations .... just make sure you block off the drain hole in the middle (underneath) before you start otherwise it'll work it's way out for months until it finally goes off.

Don't ask how I know :blast

Gravity would get it in quicker/easier with the bike layed over??

Not personally but others have, including Bobbin-Man so you could get advice on the forum for the best way to do it.

Why replace the rear shock with a YSS item? Have you considered getting the OEM shocks serviced/refurbed by somebody like MCT Suspension or Firefox Racing for about £140+Vat each unit instead ?? They do them by return courier post, I've no idea where Naas is but I doubt its that much more expensive from there than here. Even if you have paid for the YSS item, consider keeping your old shock as a future rebuildable spare.

I just had my ESA suspension serviced at 38,000 miles by MCT (including machining a new internal bush for the badly worn front shock) and it has transformed my bike.

Yeah, I considered a rebuild but when you factor in shipping to and from Ireland and a heavier spring it made sense to go for a custom built aftermarket item.

You could also fill the bars with lead shot. Put a dollop of silicone in one end deep enough to clear the expansion bolt. When cured, lie bike on it's side and fill the bars with shot with another dollop of silicone on the upside to keep it all in place.
