I'd rather have it stamped by a good independent. At least you know things have been done right and they have done the bits the dealer just doesn't bother with. However, your average punter thinks dealer history means something special and it affects warranty but the reality is often very different.
For example. The final drive has an oil drain plug. Great idea it's a quicker oil change. Wrong. The older method requires the FD to be tipped back to drain the oil. This takes a little longer but the job recirculates grease in the trunnion bearing and allows the drive shaft splines to be greased.
Mine was serviced to the book by the dealer then by me but by 50K the trunnion and drive shaft U/J were worn. I found out the hard way.
