Hi guys

I need some help on a technical question, please. :D

Sugarcube (of the Irish section of this parish) is currently in Mauritania (heading for Morocco) and following a minor 'off' in the sand yesterday his throttle position switch is broken. The bike is running but very roughly & very rich & won't idle in neutral.

The questions are this -
Is there a problem (ie. possibility of long term damage) with running it this way ?

Is there a way of shorting out the switch to enable the bike to make better progress ?

Finally, does anyone have connections with any BM dealers in the south of Spain ? I have tried to send emails to the dealers listed in Malaga & Algeciras but both have bounced back to me. Also there is no reply on the one telephone number I have tried. I will keep trying but maybe one of you will come up with something in the interim. :thumb :thumb

Hi
Try this dealers G Guarnieri, Adva de Velazquez, 468, Malaga. Telephone :952 37 30 68 Fax :952 37 67 61
They are near the airport in Malaga and the service managers name is Benjamin Megias

It will be idling like a dog because of the lack of the throttle switch will be giving the Moronic heart failure and a headache. The problem is that it is NOT a switch I believe, it is the latest reincarnation of the TPS and is a potentiometer. There should be three wires in the connector. You cannot short it out you need a new switch in my opinion. If it is injecting lots of fuel you will definitely shag the Catalyser. What other damage that would do I cannot say. There are no doubt people better qualified to comment on that!!

GAG - they're next on my 'hit list'. Any idea if Benjamin speaks passable English ?

Madprofessor - I thought it wouldn't do the cat much good. You're probably right about it being a potentiometer rather than a switch.

You're replies are appreciated & I'll let you know how I get on.

Thanks Og - didn't realise there was two of us asking the same question :o

Will contact GHOBR & liase with him :D

I got back last nite but the boyos, Errol & Brian ,are still out there :)
