I have a 1200gs with a gamin 2820 fitted, the power supply to the unit is being disturbed sometimes and the unit goes blank, only coming back on when i resart the bike, even then it sometimes happens again almost immediately, only seems to affect it when the bike is running, I have 2 leads so I don't think it's the leads, I am off to France tomorrow and was going to rely on sat nav! any ideas?

Failing a simple shorting problem, looks like you might need a software update performed on your 1200GS.

My 1200 used to run a Nav II quite hapily from the dedicated power-out socket, just behind the headstock. This lasted for about 12,000 miles until the bike went in for a service. The service, they tell me, included an update of the software to, apparently, cure a problem with batteries flattening (not something I had experienced). seemingly, the update 'imported' a bug whereby the accessory sockets would shut down periodically, for no rhyme nor reason and completely at random.

This bug has now been fixed, via a fresh download, available freegratis from your friendly BumW dealer. I had mine done and everything is now hunkydory.
