Hi guys.
My 1150 GSA had a HID fitted when I bought it, it's great but now it doesn't work. Problems started a couple of weeks ago, 1st it wouldn't come on with the ignition until I started the engine, then it wouldn't come on until I had been riding it for a couple of minutes, now it doesn't come on at all.

I have no idea about HID so any ideas?

Any RID problems your first port of call should be fuse 3 as a matter of course. Always check that. If thats ok then we can start looking elsewhere.

Fuse 3, now is that from the left if you sit on the bike or the right?

Where do think. At one end you have spare fuses, or maybe even empty spaces. At the other end they will be "live".

if thats to complicated for you, look in your handbook. They're numbered in a nice, wee, diagram

Steppers - you might want to re-check the title of the thread :augie

How's your battery? My HID started that kind of nonsense when the battery was on the way out - new one, all worked fine.

I did wonder the same, put the battery on charge last night, it did need charging, this morning fully charged...... still no light.

As soon as i get chance I'll get the tank off to check the connectors, I guess I hoped it maybe something like a bulb or something

Thank good for Auxillary lights :thumb2

Dodgy Earth??

It happened to mine, BTBR told me to remove the earth bolt and wires on the steering head (RHS) Clean them up and put them back in.

Worked for me.

1st of all check the bulb. I had a cheapy ebay job and it exploded in france!!!

Second place to go is the connections to the bulb inside the cap, thirdly I would disconnect the leads that go to the ballast.

After that I would suggest the ballast has gone.

Don't worry though cause they aren't expensive to replace.

Cue Mr Wassall :thumb

Thanks for all your advice and suggestions.

Took the tank off last night and checked all the connections (earth? couldn't find it ) There was a yellow wire coming out of the light unit which I re-seated and hey presto all now working :D

How long for I don't really know but I'll keep an eye on it, so looked like a dodgy connection.
