Hill hold

Hi everyone, just a quick updated on my post , I was on the way to pidcocks this morning to check weather my bike should have the hill hold function and on my way decided to give it one more try and guess what YES the hill hold worked .
I just put it down to the owner operator error!,
Thanks,
Ian.

Hill Start Control (HSC) has 3 available settings, which can be changed in, er, settings:
  • Auto - a light pull on the lever will activate (green H logo on the dash)
  • Manual - requires a much heavier pull on the lever to activate
  • Off
The original 1200 was very jerky at releasing but my ‘23 plate GS is super smooth, just a bit of throttle and it turns off.

I have it on mine and i used it maybe 4-5 times when i first got the bike, after 2 near drops i stopped using it.

I was on a steep hill in clitheroe with wife on back, revved so hard to release i nearly did a wheelie across the road.... it wouldn't release with normal revs.
Last time i used it i was on Wrynose pass and it released unexpectedly.... i went backward fast! sliding the front wheel, no idea how i didnt fall off.

never used since, back brake is safer and i feel more in control.
seems a good idea, but its too unpredictable to be safe.

What year is your bike? My 2018 GS had it and I found it similar to your experience and if I tried to release it by just riding off I had to give it more throttle so I used to release it manually and then held it on the back brake before setting off again which worked for me. On the later bikes it's much improved, on my 2020 GS it hardly needed any extra throttle to release it even on a uphill slope and for the few times I've used it on my 2023 RS it's a similar experience.

Mines a 1200 - 2017 Exclusive TE
When i upgrade i will try again lol

The hill hold on my previous 2018 GSA 1200 Rallye was quite aggressive on release, but on the new 1250 is very smooth and almost unnoticed at times.
