The nicer weather is now coming and if anyone is passing weather you have had a remap or not your more than welcome to come in and have a chat with me only one condition i like biscuits, ride safe have fun Geoff.

'When motorcycles are distributed throughout the world, manufacturers adopt a one map fits all policy. This one map has to take into account many different factors that are necessary for each export country. Areas such as climate, emissions, fuel quality etc all have to be considered by the manufacturer. What this means is that a ECU is never optimised for one individual situation'
Copied this from Hilltops webpage - It just about says it all I think.
Optimising the map for one individual situation is going to mean compromising the map for other situations, which is of course is what BMW cant do as the GS is designed to used all over the World, in different climates, different altitudes, different legislation etc.
Hilltop can shift the compromise, but it has to have some limitations, eg extra fuel consumption, greater emissions, maybe different performance at temperature extremes etc, etc.
You pays your money and makes your choice![]()

FFS, give it a rest
I take it you spoke to Geoff to clarify, as you said you would (several times LINKY)?
If not then may I suggest you're just trolling, as usual.........
Andres
I agree with it totally be cause it is engineering fact.

You obviously misunderstand completely - it's quite sad really that some people refuse to question and learn.
The statement on their website is absolutely spot on and I agree with it totally be cause it is engineering fact.

There you go.................
The sort of response, which puts into perspective the headline-grabbing thread title of "Hilltop = Fuelstop", which I still feel - was unwarranted.
Remember the fella who decried a dealer in the thread title about an oil leak.............. which wasn't actually an oil leak, or anything to blame the dealer about?
Al
well - I was in today.
Mine was under 82bhp (!!!!!!!!!) on base run but up to 115 after remap, holes in torque and power everywhere. Now runs clean through the gears, smooth at low revs, pulls strongly and really kicks in at top end, flat spots in mid range have gone too
does it feel like 30 odd bhp and 10 plus ft lb's more? not sure - but it builds speed so smoothly you find yourself going blardy fast blardy quickly
Almost feel like base run was too low but guy in before me was around 98 on his base run and I think 118 after (with Akra can)
fuel wise - I am actually showing 54 mpg on trip since remap vs 51 / 52 normally, although that includes about 25 miles at 52 mph on M1 which obviously helps. Suspect very little if any difference
Absolutely right![]()
Perhaps it would have been fairer to call Geoff first before complaining on an open forum?
