Hilltop Results on the LC

No, I sent a PM because there is less chance of misunderstanding than a phone call, is that too hard to understand? Anyway will have to wait now because I am out all weekend, will check back late Sunday for a reply.

Oh I understand completely: I have 3 year old and 5 year old daughters - you are less complex and more transparent than them!

What "misunderstandings" do you think you might encounter on a phonecall then?

You would win the bet - he's scared of making the phone call as he's worried he won't understand what Geoff is saying to him. This is a common problem with armchair experts as their low self esteem gets exposed. He shouldn't worry though, Geoff will explain in simpleton terms so he should get the gist of it.

Nail on the head there.:thumb

I think Mr Engineer isn't quite as bright as he likes to make out.:comfort:D

When I had my TC hilltopped it stopped the intermittent stalling issue when slowing for junctions as well as making it run better.

Does the LC suffer the same stalling problem and does the remap stop or reduce it on this bike?

Yes Engineer before you call my riding it is a well documented bike problem on the TC and not just me Just saying

Well nearly 150 posts on this thread alone still not read an even slightly unimpressed customer of hilltop who's paid his 350 and rode away its a shame and I'm only summising that (the engineer) hasn't got any mates who he could try there hilltopped bike and then maybe he'd come to terms with the difference it makes after all 350 is nothing in a genuine software engineers world I know the ones I use charge 64 an hour put it this way engineer it works ,when I go into a pub and there's a promotional beer on that tastes good goes down well I don't need to pm them question there ability go online because they won't give me the recipe it's a product that works just like Geoffs now if you worked in an industry where you were cutting edge you'd know so do us all a favour and feck off

What at a load of bollocks. It's far easier to clarify something on the phone;
Ask the question , if you don't quite get the answers you want then rephrase the question, you can check your understanding by repeating back what you believe to have been said to you, the other person can rephrase their reply so you may better understand it etc etc etc repeat this until both are satisfied.

Ever noticed how the Police use verbal communication when interrogating someone rather than emails or text messages?

You can achieve in one 5 minute phone call what could take 5 or 6 or even 10 emails and literally hours of typing. Why waste the mans time and yours?

Even if I was running a business and had a desire to keep my customers happy I wouldn't bother wasting loads of my time trying to please someone like you . Someone who just seems to have an insatiable desire to prove everyone else wrong who has been satisfied by his service......:nenau

This thread is amazing.

Starting to loom a bit like Dirk Gently and Irena :)

Yep
Whenever HMP charged me with misconduct I would only ever answer questions in writing

The never pinned anything on me as a result :D

My two penneth
I'm going to have my next bike (March 2016 GSA) remapped by Hilltop because of the fuelling issues when riding at 30-40 mph, however I dont expect 15-20 bhp or more increases or anything like this.
It might feel like it, but I used to wank after a V8 Audi A4 RS Avant and have been a member of there forum RS246 for over ten years, but by looking at these V8 normally aspirated engines pushing out 420bhp the best tuners getting out
of them was 6-10bhp increase
Its not the fgures but the way it pulls and rides
Just my thoughts

Did you post your responses by 2nd class mail every time too :P

Recorded Delivery actually Addressed Private and confidential to the investigating officer then when it was opened in the mail room I complained about confidentiality and data protection and compromise of the investigation !!!

What I can't understand on a thread like this is how one person wants to ask an endless list of technical questions re a service but is not willing to take the "seat of the pants" test and many, many experienced riders who have gone for it and it has made a real world difference to their bikes get poo poo'ed as twats and total sheep...

My single cam RT was made far more rideable and far less weezy by "the" remap and I have ridden many hundred of thousand miles on bikes so know the difference... Perhaps there are folk who ride better on the keyboard than in real life...;)

But the single cam 1200 was a bit wheezy & maybe in need of a helping hand - But the LC is a very different beast indeed. :thumby:

I want to Hilltop my Hexhead GS, after reading all the great reviews, but can't afford 350 bucks right now :(

...

These are just three such questions.

1) What happens if BMW do a critical fuelling (perhaps safety) update? Will this critical update be ignored?
2) What is the effect upon emissions after a re-map?
3) After a re-map are any of the sensors, switches etc ignored?

I think it's reasonable to appreciate this is all a bit of a grey area and what Geoff is comfortable putting in writing to an apparently sceptical if not antagonistic inquisitor would be quite different from what he would share with someone approaching him in a friendly way for an informed chat. Here's my stab at these:

1) You have invented the concept of a "critical" fuelling update and invoked the completely hypothetical notion that BMW could have issued an "unsafe" map which needs revising. The BMW mapping is generally lean and patchy and what Geoff does moves the mapping towards more efficient fuel burning across the range. You wouldn't want a new BMW map to override Geoff's good work 'cos it might be better than the last BMW map but it will still be crap.
2) Nobody knows the effect on emissions. It might well mean the bike would fail the standard manufacturers' emissions tests but it may even have an advantageous effect on real world emissions. Nobody knows. If it worries you, don't do it. You will burn less fuel if you do, however...
3) As has been pointed out, the information from O2 and other sensors is still used: it's just that the information is used a bit more intelligently. I've used Hilltoped bikes in conditions ranging from 40C temperatures and snow without any issues whatsoever.

I think it's reasonable to appreciate this is all a bit of a grey area and what Geoff is comfortable putting in writing to an arrogant, antagonistic arsehole would be quite different from what he would share with someone approaching him in a friendly way for an informed chat.
.

You kind of nailed it there, but I've fixed it - I think.

I do technical audits and surveys, but asking for written answers on everything just wouldn't work - as has been said earlier...... the number of mails back and fore would be crippling. Sure - if you are looking for statements from vendors as to the service/product they are supplying - you must get this in writing....... but "technician" appears to think he qualifies for that sort of response, when he is not a client.

I just know he's going into work and spouting shite like "I'm tearing these guys apart - they have no idea about eprom overwrites!' - and all the other technicians are in awe at his inspiration technical brilliance.............
