Hilltop Results on the LC

Busy counting his £350 nickers for an hours work.I had my TC done.Didnt feel any different afterwards.Certainly didn't give the power and torque increases the supplied charts suggested. It didn't change the fuel consumption, running temperature or any other aspect of engine management I could detect. In my experience, engine remapping only supplies significant gains on turbocharged or supercharged engines, where manufacturers conservative boost pressures can be increased. I realise a lot of people are happy with their hilltop results and this is just my personal experience.I didn't care about warranty, updates or what BMW or anyone else would think, but I didn't get the expected result.

Mmmm........

Interesting reading

Only 2nd person I've heard say it didn't bear out the graphs received

It would be interesting to put it on another dyno to see if what you say is borne out on another set of graphs & if they differ from the the Hilltop ones you were given

Presumably you took advantage of his offer to return your bike to standard and reimburse you!?

That is exactly the sort of unhelpful, inaccurate post that is typical on here.

I don't care if this thread goes on forever, a couple of other sensible people have spoken up and agreed with me and maybe (but I am not holding my breath) a few more might to so too.
Please hold your breath ............

Why did you get your bike done then? And as said before, why not get your money back if you begrudge it so much?

I didn't get the expected result on my Yamaha Super Tenere, as was described over the phone to me, either and I also couldn't tell any difference. I got it reversed, did get a refund and the bike again felt no different. This ran like all these threads on this forum and the usual posters provided their "input".

Engineer,
Why will you not directly contact Geoff at Hilltop ?

I can answer that for him

He has allegedly sent PMs to Geoff

Speaking on the phone is not good enough as he wants the information it in writing :nenau

telephones and verbal communication are so last year dontcha know :D

The twin cam is a twin cam per cylinder,
Just not conventional in its design with an inlet and exhaust on each cam preventing any timing alterations from stock, without fitting re profiled/ phased cams,
Nice article on open / closed loop,
Roamer

Yes but the conventional idea of a twin cam is to enable the independent adjustment of the inlet and exhaust timing by using adjustable cam wheels and a dial gauge.

i thought it's main purpose was to minimise reciprocating weight.

i thought it's main purpose was to minimise reciprocating weight.

That's what is achieved by OHC (OverHead Cam) - but can be achieved by a single shaft.

DOHC (Dual/twin OverHead Cam) Builds on that to give the individual adjustment capability.

DOHC as we see all over the place today allows direct valve actuation which reduces valvetrain mass for higher engine speeds whilst maintaining good combustion chamber geometry.

DOHC as we see all over the place today makes the engine more complicated so the dealer can try and justify the prices set by BMW H.O, and try to keep the 'normal' punter hooked into the dealer servicing network for longer.
Oh, and it adds an extra bit to the nomenclature of the bike so the 'must haves' must have it......and on the ball rolls
