If only I lived closer…..

Hah yes it straddles DE and NG 👍🏽

The TQ is ridiculous, 2nd gear idle, open fully and the horizon accelerates towards you.

At 70 mph it’s doing 2100rpm

So if the days start getting shorter, it's just you winding the Rocket throttle on and the planet responding accordingly :)

My longest trip to buy was; A flight to Manchester from Inverness; then a train to Liverpool, then a taxi to the docks, then the ferry to IOM, collected the bike, then had to permanently export it at the port from IOM. Back on ferry, but this time to Heysham then back to the North of Scotland. Bought of a fellow Tosser from here cheap as chips as everyone else had said; “if only it was closer” despite all the travel expenses and re-registering it here, it was still a good buy.

Also rode my K1600 from north of Inverness to Poole in Dorset to trade it for an Indian Roadmaster, which I then rode straight back home again, 1300 mile round trip.

As has been said, if it’s something you want and the price is right then it’s worth the effort. Those saying “I’d have that if it were closer” are really not in the market and just looking to get their post count up.

I’ve caught a few out in the past by saying ok I’ll ride it to your house, you cover fuel and a train home. Guess what, they turned it down, so clearly didn’t really want it.

Fuck collecting/riding bikes in the snow

That's what vans are for :augie

I got lucky.

Trains no dramas, sat was good weather on way back until last 50m, literally 👍🏽

I was going to treat myself to a new R3 back in 2020 then COVID got in the way

I even bought a registration for it too (T25 ROK)

Safari sagoodee for me.

70 on motorway at 2100rpm

Blast not too bad.

Engine is frankly ludicrous in a good way.

Build looks excellent. 👍🏽

I’ll be hearing you and the Terminator exhaust roar into the distance. 😂

I have travelled at least six times to that big island next door to buy bikes, four of them were for myself in places as far apart as London and Aberdeen. The other two were for friends, so I took them pillion to the UK where they bought the bikes then we rode home.
Fly out and ride home. Simple. That whole "if only it were closer" is bullshit and has been said above, the right bike at the right price is worth the effort.

plan was to buy a postie bike in new zealand

use it for holiday then ship it home

covid happened so didnt get the holiday

after much tooing and froing it ended up at felixstowe (after being told it was southampton)

crate too tall for van - buy saw to cut top off crate

I suspect done people on here would regard the ride back as too long

Depends on the bike for me. If it’s a very common bike then I wouldn’t go to the other end of the country for it. I’d just get something local-ish. If it’s something rare / special then I’d go wherever. No disrespect to a GS, but there’d be no need to travel 500 miles for one. A spec’d up HP2 / KTM 950 SuperEnduro - I’ll be booking flights!

Cheers

Markie

I think most are in agreement then, that IOIWC posts are dreamers spouting bollocks

It might be their way of showing appreciation for a nice bike? Nevertheless, utterly inappropriate comment.
On the positive side, it does give the post a bump..
