Is 96bhp enough?

Interesting - always had a soft spot for KTM's (had a Superduke and a 690SMR) and currently looking at options to replace the Wife's written off Speed Triple.

Had been looking at Tiger 800XR or Yamaha Tracer but if there is a good discount then one of these could fit the bill and be a bit of fun for me to play on as well :green gri

JB how tall did it feel - seat ht states 850mm compared to Tiger XR 810/830mm and Tracer 845/860mm?

Certainly with the basic Tiger/Tracer coming in at under £8,500 the KTM would need to be a lot better/heavily discounted to be seriously considered.

I'm 6'2 with a 31" inseam, so the seat height was fine - knees bent and also narrow at front

Bike felt very lean, in the girth - especially after arriving on a lardy 1150GSA:augie

In the Visordown road test there's a dyno comparison with the 1190, and the 1050 just stops making power at 6500 rpm but up till then it more or less matches the biggun all the way.

Interesting :)

There's plenty of power/grunt to be had up to 6500 on the 1190 so that all sounds good.

What will be missing is the ballistic 'the world's starting to go backwards' rush that the 1190 hits at just those revs, shame :D

I wonder if the 'restriction' is mostly mechanical (cams/head etc) or electronic?

The urge to look closely at one of these is getting strong........

This thread is about bhp and if a certain bhp is enough. It has been well discussed here and is interesting reading. However there's a thread on the go at the moment about Hilltop remapping where some bods have chimed in, reflecting that bhp doesn't matter, saying its 'other' things that win the day (torque, power curve, fueling :blagblah). But on this thread bhp seems the only mentioned factor. I'm somewhere between being a biking god and biking vicar, so a pretty average Joe.
...and somewhat confused.

Don't be confused. Good fuelling, (hilltop), good suspension (Ktm 1190 :)) and good midrange pick up (twin) is what yer looking for ...

That word is on my block list. I'm on the verge of topping myself, if I read any more fucking hilltop threads.

They all go round in circles covering the same questions,I've been and had mine done and would not hesitate to go again with my next bike.

I wonder if it is all smoke and mirrors when getting a bike remapped by Hilltop ? Do you really feel that much of a difference ?

Has he topped himself yet ? :green gri
