Basically is it difficult?

I am looking at getting some new panniers and the options seem to be £500 for a set of BMW Panniers with coded locks and 2 keys, or

£550 for uncoded locks that you code to your own key.

So is it difficult to code the keys or is it just as handy to have them coded and a different key?

Is the one key option much better?

Also would it be right that the dealer is looking for £700 for something that you can get from : http://www.bmw-motorrad-store.co.uk for £150 less?

Am I right in thinking that http://www.bmw-motorrad-store.co.uk is the official BMW site?

Cheers!

It isn't difficult to do at all. Maybe 15-20 mins the first one and the second would be under 10 because you just copy the wafer numbers and assemble. Whether the one key is better or not depends on if you like carrying a load of keys around with you.

When I bought a new pair of varios from a BMW dealer, I got them to code them for me. They did it for free, which was nice considering I'd just paid nearly £500 for a pair of boxes

I recoded them to my 2nd 1200GS and it was very easy.

As it's been said, it's easy to code the locks yourself, there's a good weblink somewhere in the forum that's easy to follow - have a search for it. If you're interested then I have a top box in the "for sale" section

Thanks. I already have a top box though that will do me for a bit longer. Thanks anyway though.
